Tasker and Theo
Liam Tasker, 26, a junior corporal from the British unit in Afghanistan, was shot by Afghan insurgents in the town of Nahr al-Sarraj (Helmand province) during a mine-clearing raid
A few hours after his death, his faithful dog Theo, with whom the corporal discovered many caches of weapons, died of a heart attack. According to colleagues, Theo and Liam were as if made for each other, they were so inseparable.

Tasker's mother says that when she heard about this, she thought that it was Liam who took his dog with him, not wanting to be separated from him for a long time. "They worked together and died together."
Corporal Tasker was sent to Afghanistan in September 2010 to the 1st Irish Battalion with his dog to search for mines and weapons. According to the commander, everyone was very happy when he came. He was very brave and responsible. On March 1, as the Irish Guards marched into the Shura area to meet with local and American stormtroopers, he was fatally wounded in an ambush by insurgents while he and Theo tried to check a suspicious black bag with wires.
When the corporal was shot, Theo was with him. By helicopter Tasker was urgently sent to the hospital, but soon he died. The dog, meanwhile, was taken back to the Irish base and a few hours later Theo also died. Since there were no veterinarians at the base, they could not determine the exact cause of death, but everything indicated that the dog's heart simply stopped.
