An urban legend is what might be called a modern folk tale. Most of them are based on the imaginations of people who once became participants or witnesses of certain events. That is, there is little truth in urban legends.
Is that the incident itself, which gave rise to a wave of rumors and conjectures.
Phone call from the world of the dead
Tommy and Cassidy are a happy married couple and have been married for 25 years. They have two grown children. One rainy day, when Tommy was driving to work, he rolled off the road and crashed into a telephone pole. The accident was fatal. Cassidy and her two children were mad at the loss. About a week after Tommy died, something strange began to happen. Cassidy and her two children started receiving calls on their cell phones from Tommy's old number.
This legend has been used as the plot for many staged television shows and has been retold countless times, but there is some truth in it. There are a number of plausible stories similar to this that date back to the early 90s, but the most well-documented case is in 2008.
On September 18, 2008, in the San Fernando Valley of California, a commuter train collided with a freight train. Andrea Katz heard about the accident on the radio and, to her horror, realized that her fiancé, Charles Peck, was on that train.
In the 11 hours after the accident, Peck's cell phone made 35 calls to various loved ones. Peck called his stepmother, son, sister, brother and fiancé Andrea. Every time they answered phone calls, they became static, and when they tried to call him back, he went straight to his voicemail. Rescuers used Peck's cell phone signal to find him. It was revealed that he died of a stroke, and yet somehow he managed to call all of his loved ones.
