Physicists at the University of Berkeley believe that time travel is impossible due to the expanding universe. This assumption is based on the hypothesis of Professor Richard Mueller concerning the features of space and time.

Most people do not think about the question of why time is constantly moving forward, and it is impossible to turn it back. Some romantic-minded people believe that there will be brilliant researchers who can refute this axiom. Nevertheless, now scientists themselves are talking about the impossibility of moving in time, and the reason for this is the growth of the Universe, formed as a result of the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago.

From the very beginning of its existence, the Universe has been continuously expanding, but we are not talking about the physical distance of space objects from each other, but about the growth of the fabric of space and time. Thus, there is a little more time until the moment "now". To travel into the past, a person would have to narrow the universe, and in order to move into the future, on the contrary, expand it.

Richard Müller intends to find confirmation of his assumption at the LIGO observatory. In February, her staff identified gravitational waves merging into one. These waves form a new space, due to which one more millisecond is added to the current moment. The hypothesis of Arthur Eddington, who almost 90 years ago suggested that time moves in the direction of increasing entropy, could disprove Mueller's theory. According to Müller, everything happens the other way around: a person decreases entropy.
