Just the other day, a scientific work authored by two scientists from Harvard University made a splash: they said that a cigar-shaped rock flying through our solar system could be sent by aliens. Scientists noted that this is an "exotic scenario", but "Oumuamua may be a fully functional probe sent to Earth by aliens."

Oumuamua, the first known interstellar object to enter our solar system, is accelerating away from the Sun faster than expected, so it has been speculated that it is being propelled by an artificial sail powered by sunlight - a light sail.

But not all astronomy experts agree with this assumption.

Alien Messenger?

Katie Mack, a renowned astrophysicist from North Carolina, also doesn't believe in the extraterrestrial hype.

Avi Loeb, chair of the astronomy department at Harvard, says we may never know more about this mysterious object because it has flown far away and won't come back.

The work of scientists has been accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal Letters and will appear on November 12.
