Thousands of people visit the Main Post Office on Khreshchatyk (Kiev) every day - they send letters and parcels, receive transfers. And very few people know that it was in this place that the first poltergeist in Europe was registered more than a hundred years ago
Since then, mystical and tragic events have taken place here. Clairvoyants admit that there is even an entrance to a parallel world! "BLIK" followed the fate of the mysterious building and found a girl who miraculously managed to escape death near the main post office.
In 1902, the police received a call from the wife of the mayor of Kiev Olga Dyakova: "A real ghost is operating at 22 Khreshchatyk!" A detachment urgently left for the place, the guards did not believe their eyes! In the building, which in those years was a tenement house, furniture moved by itself, bed linen flew, dishes beat.

And how it gives! After all, exactly 20 years ago a terrible tragedy happened here - part of the building collapsed. It was raining on that Black Wednesday, August 2, 1989. A huge portal, that is, the front facade of the Main Post Office, which was supported by metal structures, suddenly began to fall. Eyewitnesses say that everything happened in some kind of ominous silence. The brickwork crept down very slowly, as if it had flowed. And the rumble was heard only after a few seconds. Then 11 people died! In the Internet diaries of the people of Kiev, "BLIK" discovered the shocking story of the girl Alina, who miraculously escaped a terrible death. Then she was not even born yet, mother Irina was pregnant with her.
“In August 1989, my mother was seven months pregnant. By that time, she had gone on maternity leave, - writes Alina. - On the morning of August 2, she received a call from the accounting department and said that the money had been received for July. Mom was going to go after them. She worked in Lukyanovka, and got to work through the Maidan (first by the metro, then by the 18th trolleybus). However, my mother (my grandmother) held her back, offering to go tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. In the evening, my mother learned about the collapse. After roughly counting the time, she realized that she could very well be there (then it started raining, many hid under the portico). Considering my mother’s pregnancy and possible nervous stress, it’s not a fact that I would have been safely born after that.
- In that date, there are two eights, which, if disturbed, have a negative tendency to turn into an "infinity sign", bring troubles to events, including tragedies. The collapse of the portico is a revenge, perhaps, of precisely that lost soul who has not been able to calm down until now,”Tatiana Litvinova believes.
The string of mystical events does not end there. In November 2007, the Central Post Office nearly burned down. Then people were urgently evacuated and victims were avoided. But who knows when the poltergeist of the Main Post Office will decide to show up again next time?
