Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova believes that the annual appearance of dangerous viruses such as Ebola and the Zika virus may indicate that they are spreading deliberately.

Veronika Skvortsova announced this on the air of the federal channel "Russia 1".

"Apparently, we cannot exclude a man-made factor in the development of certain infectious outbreaks against the background of those pathogens that have existed in nature for decades, centuries," Skvortsova said, noting that the problem of the spread of viruses arises artificially every two years … First there was Ebola, then the Zika virus.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health considers the problem of the Zika virus, in connection with which the WHO has declared an international emergency, exaggerated. By the way, since October 2015, at least 4,783 cases of this disease have been registered in Brazil.

“In our opinion, the danger from this virus is exaggerating,” Skvortsova concretized, answering a journalist's question about a possible miss by American athletes of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. At the same time, the minister stressed that the virus poses the greatest danger to pregnant women, who really should take care of their own safety.

Previously, Vademecum described the history of the Zika virus - from the moment of detection to the outbreak in 2015.
