A new scientific study suggests that the human mind can function for a while after the body stops showing signs of life. The author of the work is Dr. Sam Parnia, Head of Resuscitation Research, School of Medicine, New York University.
The scientist and his assistants talked to many people who had cardiac arrest and who actually died, but were then resuscitated by doctors. It turned out that many of these patients, finding themselves beyond the line of life and death, understood that they were being transported around the hospital on a stretcher, and continued to hear the doctors' conversations. The researchers found out from the doctors what they actually said in the intensive care unit and exactly what the supposedly already dead patients heard.
And some of the patients even saw what was happening around them after the cardiac arrest. Moreover, they knew very well that they had died, and many of them experienced great regret or fear about this.
