We are lucky - we live on a very beautiful planet. But at the same time - mysterious, unpredictable and not too adapted for a comfortable existence. From time to time she throws surprises at us that modern science cannot explain.

One of the most mysterious incidents of the 20th century is the explosion in the city of Sasovo, Ryazan Region, on the night of April 11-12, 1991. Even now, more than 20 years later, scientists are arguing about the nature of this explosion. Many versions of what happened have been put forward, but none of them can be considered quite satisfactory.

Surprise on Cosmonautics Day

It happened at 1 hour 34 minutes, when most of the townspeople were sleeping peacefully. Here is how Nikitina, the duty officer at the Sasovo railway station, later described the incident:

“Suddenly there was a growing rumble, the walls of the observation tower, on which I was at that moment, swayed. Then there was an explosion of monstrous force. Glasses fell to the floor … ". A terrible blow fell on the city. The earth shook. Multi-storey buildings swayed from side to side, furniture, televisions fell in apartments, chandeliers flew to smithereens. Sleepy, dumb people were thrown from their beds, showered with handfuls of broken glass. Thousands of windows and doors, steel sheets from roofs were uprooted. From incredible pressure drops, hatch covers tore off, empty objects burst - cans, light bulbs, even children's toys. Water pipes burst underground. The telephone connection was interrupted for several minutes."

Here is more eyewitness testimony

Promotional video:

V. Kaloshin, retired military doctor: “I woke up from vibration and hum. The house was shaking. Then everything lit up and dust rose. I thought it was an atomic bomb …”.

T. Kalyagina: “About ten minutes before the explosion, my head ached. I sat up in bed and took a pill. Suddenly I was thrown to the floor. The windows survived. But in the kitchen, for some reason, all the flasks moved into one heap and shattered …”.

V. Zhuchkov, garage mechanic: “The pipe in the boiler room was torn off and thrown off. All the gates along the garage wall swung open, although they were closed from the inside with a massive hook”(the garage, covered by the high building of the local communication center, faces the funnel, the gates are along this direction).

N. Kolevaeva, head of the communications center (the building is located one kilometer from the crater): “We heard a hum, then chairs swayed under us, then the instruments overturned, the ceiling collapsed in several rooms. Somehow broke the internal partition, protected from all sides by capital walls, tore out blocks on the ATC racks … They thought the end of the world ….

When the rumble died down, the shocked people heard the rumble again. Now receding …

The shock wave threw open the windows in the village of Igoshino, located 50 kilometers from Sasov. Experts have estimated the power of the explosion at almost 30 tons of TNT. But even in the city that took the brunt of the blow, almost no one was hurt. Only four people were taken to the hospital, cut by broken glass. The explosion seemed to be controlled by someone, making it so that it did the least harm. Such is the surprise on Cosmonautics Day!

Funnel

On the morning of April 12, police officers found in the floodplain of the Tsna River, 800 meters from the railway and the oil depot, a funnel of regular round shape, up to 30 meters in diameter and up to 4 meters deep. At the very bottom, in the center, there was a mound with concave slopes. Its diameter was about 12, and its height was more than 1.5 meters. According to the data of the sanitary-epidemiological station, the radiation background of the funnel did not exceed the norm. With an incredible force, they vomited and scattered huge blocks of soil, they flew away to a distance of 200 meters.

The scattering of clods of chernozem, thrown out of the funnel and mostly of the correct shape, caused surprise. Four directions of their falling out were clearly recorded, creating the configuration of an irregular cross. At the same time, in the immediate vicinity of the funnel, the grass and bushes did not suffer at all either from the shock wave or from the high temperature.

The blast wave also crossed the city in a cruciform manner. But the tank farm, located 550 meters from the crater in the direction of Sasov, was not damaged.

On November 30, 1954, a meteorite pierced the roof of the house of American Ann Hodgesi and wounded her in the shoulder and thigh. She spent several days in the hospital. Ann is the only person hit by a meteorite today.

And in the residential areas of the city, located behind the oil depot, window frames and doors were knocked out. Moreover, the frames fell out of the buildings outward, as if they were squeezed out from the inside.

For two nights in a row, the funnel glowed as if it was illuminated from below. Severe headaches and dizziness knocked down people who dared to descend into it, their electronic watches and calculators malfunctioned. Some photographs were damaged, covered with strange reflections. Finally, someone dug a groove, the waters of the overflowing Tsna River rushed inward, and the glow in the flooded crater died out …

Message from Procyon

There are many versions of this incident: a meteorite fall; an explosion of saltpeter, the bags of which were lying near the epicenter; explosion of a vacuum bomb or fuel tank dropped from a military aircraft, etc. We will consider the most interesting one.

4 hours before the explosion (April 11, at 21.20), a shunting diesel locomotive was located on the access roads at the Sasovo station, waiting for a permission signal from a traffic light. The locomotive driver Ivan Kurchatov suddenly saw from the cockpit window "a ball of bright white color." Station workers and numerous passengers came out to look at the UFO. The huge balloon hung motionless directly over the train station, and then slowly flew northeast.

An hour before the explosion, a strange glow spread over the place of the future crater. For half an hour, residents of the outskirts of the city saw two bright red balls, which slowly crossed the sky.

Glowing balls, with a roar dissecting the sky, appeared in the village of Chuchkovo (30 kilometers from the epicenter). During their flight, people heard a hum and felt the earth shake. Unusual objects in the sky were seen by the cadets of the civil aviation school, railway workers, fishermen.

Police inspector P. N. Panikov and the district police officer N. N. Ryabov, who were part of the night patrol group of the Sasovskiy GROVD Department, was seen in the sky behind the railway (on the side where the explosion later occurred) a ball or cloud emitting a bluish glow. Just before the explosion, two bright blue flashes were observed over the city.

As soon as the explosion thundered, a “cloud” appeared in the sky with well-defined edges, flying against the wind. It glowed with white light from within. And after 3-4 minutes far from the city, a round bright red glow was observed, which gradually faded away.

“The fact of a 5-minute break in telephone communication at the railway station immediately after the explosion is unusual,” the city newspaper Prizyv wrote. “Moreover, the engine of the ChS-7 shunting locomotive stalled at the moment of the explosion. Such phenomena, as a rule, are observed during UFO flights."

Many recalled that before the catastrophe they had lost sleep, they had an unreasonable fear. Someone seemed to be warning: get out of here as soon as possible!

The alien version is largely confirmed by the study of the consequences of the second explosion that struck in the vicinity of Sasov a little over a year after the first, on the night of June 28, 1992. This time there was no destruction: the glass shook, but did not break. But in the corn field of the Novy Put state farm near the village of Frolovskoye, another crater was gaping about four meters deep and 11.5 meters in diameter.

When studying this funnel, local scientists V. Volkov and A. Faddeev conducted an experiment by lowering a microcomputer with a specific research program into it. After taking it out after a while, the specialists found that their program was erased, and instead of it, a "foreign" one was installed. It was nothing more than the traces of a heavenly message addressed to earthlings by the inhabitants of Procyon from the constellation Canis Minor. One of the proofs of this hypothesis was that when decoding the "alien" program, a detailed map of the starry sky was discovered, on which Procyon was the brightest of all.

ON THE. Blinkov, a Ryazan psychic who treats only his relatives and friends and avoids free earnings from bioenergy healing, confirms the hypothesis of Faddeev and Volkov. What they suggested, he saw with his “third eye”: at a depth of 30-35 meters, there is a certain object - a cylinder with a tapered end.

The information recorded by the microcomputer and decoded also confirms the existence of this material object. Blinkov strongly insists on continuing the search for the cylinder, which, in his opinion, is an information capsule. Researchers simply did not get to the bottom, in the literal sense of the word, to the essence of the Sasov puzzle, stopping halfway.

Every year there are more and more hypotheses. But let's hope that scientists will still be able to answer the question of what actually happened in Sasovo.
