Since ancient times, people have attributed to stones both healing properties and the power of amulets. What about the ability to move, grow and reproduce? Believe it or not, the Trovens are capable of that too.

Any master can reduce the size of the stone - there would be tools at hand. Another thing is to increase. However, some stones do an excellent job on their own. To do this, it is enough to properly moisturize them.

Amazing stones are called trovanti and were first discovered in Romania - in its central and southern regions. Translated from Arabic, trovant means “in need of water”. Indeed, these stones need water to manifest their amazing property: the ability to grow.

Annual rings

Trowantas are mainly composed of sandstone. According to geologists, they were formed as a result of the process of cementation of sand, which took place in the bowels of the earth for millions of years. Seismic activity led to the fact that these stones were pushed to the surface. Their shell contains many mineral salts, which expand under the influence of water, forcing the trovante to grow. A small stone can turn into a huge lump over time. At the same time, young trovants rapidly increase in size, but as they "mature" their growth slows down. If you cut such a stone, it turns out that inside it has age rings, like a tree.

Since Romania is the homeland of Dracula himself, the locals cannot be surprised by legends and wonders. But they decided to please the tourists and created a whole park-reserve of Trowans in the Valcea area. On an area of more than a hectare, you can admire giant stones of the most bizarre shapes. They also offer souvenirs from trowant. Agree, it is interesting to grow at home not a cactus, not a violet, but a stone! Only when buying a small trowant you will be surely warned: see that… do not run away. Yes Yes. Troventers can move: this is another amazing ability.

The residents of Romania, however, this does not prevent the use of trowants both for the construction of houses and as tombstones. Apparently, they know how to negotiate with the stones so that they sit still. In addition, according to another local legend, the souls of innocently murdered people infiltrate the Trovants. Therefore, sometimes such stones are placed at the gate of a house as guards, slowly but surely "bypassing" the property.

Aunt Tonya and Uncle Fedya

Romania is the discoverer of the Trovantes, but not at all an absolute ruler. Growing stones were found in Kazakhstan: on the northern shore of Lake Balkhash and on the Wandering field near Semey. In these parts, they like to tell either a story or a story about an agronomist who once lay down to rest, leaning against a massive stone. He woke up in the same place, but … lying on the ground. The boulder he was leaning on stood as if nothing had happened. Only about 30 meters from the previous place.

There are trovants in Russia: the village of Andreevka in the Kolpnyansky district in the Oryol region is famous for them. Stones of bizarre shape are found everywhere there. They get out of the ground and may even settle in someone's garden. Their sizes are very different: from very small pebbles to solid heavy blocks. Some have names associated with the properties attributed to these stones. So, one giant who settled near the path leading to the source is called male. It grows especially noticeably after rain and is said to help older men solve all sorts of delicate problems. Women often call him Fedya.

And there is also Aunt Tonya, named after the local midwife. Women from all over the area approached the real aunt Tonya. The atrovante, in the outlines of which a woman's silhouette is guessed, is rumored to help women during demolitions to easily relieve themselves of the burden.

One of the trowans resembles Rodin's thinker: more tired than thoughtful, though. Andreevka has its own stone Cheburashka, and a stone named Mozga. It is covered with convex formations that resemble the surface of a human brain. This is the hope and support of the local students. Who else to ask for support during the session ?! You can sit on it, you can touch it with your hand. Some, the more adventurous, even put a record book on it. What if it helps?

Another form of life

Have you ever heard of budding stones? Then get ready to be surprised: the Trowans can do that too! Sometimes a small bump appears on the surface of the "mother" stone. It gradually increases in size, and over time it separates and begins an independent life. Centuries will pass - and a baby will also grow from him, who will one day be destined to become a giant.

This property of trovants has not yet been explained by scientists. The division of the stone core remains an insoluble mystery. But some researchers, such as Richard Damon from Lyon, believe that in reality we are dealing with a different form of life: silicon, not protein.

All living organisms that exist on our planet are composed of organic compounds, including carbon. It is on him that earthly life is based. But the most popular alternative to carbon is silicon. It is in the same group on the periodic table as carbon, and their properties are very similar. Silicon is much more resistant to heat, and therefore some scientists believe that life based on this element is more likely possible on other planets, where the pressure is higher than that of the Earth, and the temperature is more than 1,000 degrees Celsius. Nevertheless, silicon compounds can be found in the composition of some terrestrial organisms: it is from them, for example, that the skeleton of radiolarians is formed - unicellular planktonic organisms that live in warm ocean waters.

But in that case, why not assume that the Trowants are indeed living beings? Moreover, some scholars argue that the Trovants breathe. By breathing, researchers mean the change in the size of the stone during the day. At night there is an "inhalation": the stone slightly increases in diameter, and during the day "exhales" …

Alien from space

Science does not have an unambiguous answer to the question of where the Trovants came from on our planet. Maybe in ancient times they were brought to Earth by aliens? Or are the Trovants themselves aliens? Who knows, suddenly, when some dreamer-astronomer goes outside at night and puts his telescope on a stone, a guest from another planet lends his shoulder while the earthling peers into the starry sky in search of brothers in mind …

Tramps

Stone travel enthusiasts are not only found in Romania. Stones are often moved from place to place in Death Valley in the United States. They are at the bottom of a dried-up lake and behave in an extremely unpredictable manner. Sometimes they stand still for years, and sometimes they overcome tens of meters, leaving distinct traces in the sand. The mystery of their walks is still controversial among researchers.

In Tibet, he ascends a mountain, and then descends from it a Buddha stone weighing more than a ton. At one time, they say, the Buddha himself left an imprint of his palms on it: hence the name of the stone. The journey to the top and down takes him 16 years. At the same time, according to the stories, along the way, the stone makes sounds that are strikingly reminiscent of senile grunting.
