BEKs (Black Eyed Kids) - children with black eyes, a modern American urban legend. In recent years, more and more messages about the victims of this phenomenon have appeared on the web.
Everything starts almost always the same: the doorbell rings and on the doorstep the owner meets the child who asks for help - to drink, call, go to the toilet and so on. The main thing is that he wants to enter.
However, almost no one lets the children in. Perhaps due to the fact that their eyes are one continuous pupil (hence the name), and perhaps because their face is slightly "floating", as if covered with a haze - children inspire not pity, but a feeling of animal horror.
Some victims, after contact with children with black eyes, report that they later repeatedly saw them in the neighborhood and even in other parts of the city - they stood and looked at them with their black eyes. Sometimes in the open, sometimes hiding behind the trees.
What happens if such a child is allowed into the house? There is a legend that one man let in. A child with very black eyes stared at him and declared that he no longer wanted to use the toilet, he came to pick him up. The man ran out of the house, screaming in horror, and died of a broken heart.
1998 - the first message
When a Texas journalist named Brian Bethel parked in front of a movie theater late at night, someone knocked on the window of his car. Turning his head, Brian saw two boys, twelve or thirteen years old. The first, who was taller, spoke, the second was silent. It turns out that they wanted to see the movie, but forgot the money. And so they ask for a ride home.

At first glance, the boys looked completely normal: unpretentiously dressed, their skin was pale, with an olive tint. But despite this, Brian suddenly felt an inexplicable fear. Some kind of alarm went off in his soul, his nails dug into the steering wheel. By his own admission, something similar is experienced by a person who needs to instantly decide what to do - to fight or to run. Something was wrong here, but the journalist could not understand what it was. But what exactly is the matter? The boys want to quickly go home to their mom for money.
And then suddenly their gazes met. Only now did Brian notice their eyes - jet black. No pupil. No iris. No squirrel. Just all black eyeballs! An overwhelming primal fear gripped him. Brian didn’t want to let the boys into the car, but suddenly he caught himself that his hand itself was already reaching for the door handle to open it!
Fortunately, the journalist looked away for a moment from his jet-black eyes, looked away. And then he pulled his hand away from the door. With great difficulty, Brian managed to shake off his daze and to move. He quickly looked around. Nobody! The sidewalk in front of the cinema was empty.
Brian did not drive back, but raced. If someone got in his way, he probably would not be able to slow down. Some time later, Brian drove to his closest friend Chad. There were two women visiting him. According to Chad, both of them had some kind of psychic abilities. Brian had just started his story, leaving a message about black eyes "for dessert" when one of the women suddenly interrupted him: “Did these kids have black eyes? I mean completely black?"
And when Brian confirmed this, the woman said that last week she saw such people in a dream (or vision?): They wanted to enter the house, but she did not let them in, but locked all the doors and windows. "I knew that if they came in, they would kill me." And after a pause, she added: "And they would kill you if you let them in the car."
Even a few years later, Brian admitted that he was not one hundred percent sure what happened to him that evening: “I believe I was in danger, and I believe that it came from something extraordinary. What I went through then was one of the most terrible events in my life, and I have not the slightest desire to face this again."
After the story was published, Bethel received many questions and … stories of other similar cases. Every day there are more and more of them.
This usually happens in private homes. A knock on the door, behind which a boy of 12 years old is patiently waiting. Sometimes it is a young man. Most often they walk in twos. Sometimes children say that they urgently need to call, and ask to let them into the house, explain that they are lost. It is not known if anyone let them into the house, and how it ended. But it is known that the adult was overcome with panic fear. And, as a rule, there was a feeling that something was wrong. Ah, that's it - eyes!
Children are persistent, do not ask, but almost demand to be allowed in. And they will never leave until the owner slams the door in front of their noses and hides in the house. Somehow, this is what turns out to be incredibly difficult. People say that someone saw such black-eyed in reality, and someone in a dream. Or some kind of dream. Those who communicated with them have the impression that in fact these "children" are much older than they look. Or maybe these are not children at all …
They are looking for housing
In October 2005, one such case was reported by a 47-year-old woman named Ti, who had worked for a rental agency for 20 years. It is her responsibility to show the vacant property to potential tenants. And therefore, she has a rich experience of communicating with a variety of people, intuition, one might say, is unmistakable. But that day she could not bring herself to even take a step out of her office!
The stranger knocked on the office door right after lunch. He looked like he was 17 or maybe 18. He came by bicycle. I asked if there were any vacant apartments. “I remember when I suddenly felt a terrible fear, barely seeing his eyes. I got goosebumps down my spine, I just shivered! How long I have been working, and I don’t remember that this happened to me at least once,”says Tee. “I couldn't look him straight in the eye. It seemed to me that now I was going to die … He did not come close to me, he just stood outside the threshold and waited for me to invite him in or take him to look at the vacant apartment. He talked to me normally, but I slammed the door in front of him and rushed away from there - where to go. I had the feeling that I was in mortal danger. And all this is because of his eyes. If I looked at them a little longer, I probably would not have been able to close the door. And after that it shook for several more hours.
A young lady who calls herself Missy says that she met such a man - an adult - in a shop where she stopped by after work to buy tea. Already heading for the exit, she stopped at the tables and sat down to sort through her things, as the car key had fallen somewhere on the bottom of the bag. And then suddenly she felt that someone was watching her. She looked around and met the stranger's eyes. There was nothing unusual in his appearance - jeans, black shirt, light black jacket, almost black hair, light skin with an olive tint. But the eyes … The eyes were "blacker than black, from edge to edge, completely without whites."
“I felt blackness around him, felt evil. And when I looked into his eyes, I somehow knew that in this human body there was not a person at all, and I felt that he knew that I understood this. And one more interesting detail. There were three empty tables near him, but people, without stopping, passed on. Nobody sat close to him. I got the impression that it amuses him, that he kind of challenges people and, in particular, me: "Well, are you going to run away too?" And I mentally answered: "I am leaving because I was going to leave." I felt that it was important not to show him my fear, because he continued to watch me. I wanted to run, but I walked. Fast, but she walked. I got into the car and drove away. All this frightened me pretty much, but now I know that in this world we are not alone, we share it with others - with non-humans."

Skip Panelioto is a bartender in the wilderness of the desert state of Nevada. One day a decently dressed couple in black glasses appeared at the bar. At first, the bartender did not think anything like that, he was just slightly surprised: there are few people here in the district, most of them he knows personally - they went to school together, and you can get here only by car, but these two did not come, they came. And they asked for something cold to drink. Skip offered them a beer. They smiled affably: “Beer? Let's try beer. We sat at our table, silently, looking at the bar with interest. And what is there to look at? Nothing interesting! Then they took off their glasses.
After a while Skip approached them and asked if they could bring more beer. And then I saw their eyes for the first time. All black. No pupils, no iris, no sclera - just blackness. Puzzled, Skip asked sympathetically: "Did you go to the eye socket?" The woman looked at the man in confusion, as if asking him what to answer. And Skip again for his own: "What's wrong with your eyes?"
Both looked at the bartender with an unkind look, in which there was an explosive mixture of hatred and fear. We got up and went out.
They looked about 30 years old, dressed in black business suits. Except for the eyes, they are perfectly normal people. Only the hatred in their gaze scared Skip. And the more he thought about it later, the more he felt fear. How did they get to this place in the desert if they didn't have a car? How did you leave? Where have you gone? Why did you pay with brand new bills, as if they were just printed? Why didn't you tip? Why did the usual display of sympathy provoke such a strong reaction from them?
Who are they?
The first assumption that comes to mind is illness. There are indeed diseases that can affect the eyes and change their color. For example, with cataracts associated with clouding of the lens, the color of the pupil changes. It turns white. Often the iris is affected and then they merge with the color of the white and the eyes become white.
With aniridia, the iris is affected. It is either completely absent or becomes black and merges with the pupil, but again this does not affect the protein.
There is a disease - congenital partial or complete absence of the iris. At the same time, the eyes are colorless, but they can look like completely black. There is also a black sclera, but extremely rare. In addition, this does not explain in any way the behavior of the Black Eyed Kids and the fear they cause in people when they appear.
Skeptics (and how without them) believe that we are dealing with a joke. Young people put in black lenses and scare respectable citizens. Well, it is quite possible to assume that this theory is able to explain some of the cases, but not all. It's like crop circles. People tried to recreate them several times. However, upon closer inspection, these man-made circles only vaguely resembled the real ones.
A logical question arises: why are these creatures not trying to break into a house or car without an invitation? It is clear, however, that with such persistence, they could well have made such an attempt! But no, that doesn't happen.
Those who are in a mystical mood find their own explanation: if it is some kind of evil spirit, vampire, demon, then it should be so. You see, you yourself must call him into your house, and only then can he use his witchcraft power. This superstition is common in many religions.
But then why would an evil spirit or demon take the form of a child? Yes, then, to evoke compassion. Well, what adult would not regret a boy who has lost his way or is upset about something and will not let him use the phone?
And finally, there is another version: children with black eyes are aliens. Or perhaps human-alien hybrids. They are able to take on any form and affect the mind of people, causing uncontrollable emotions, including fear. And it is precisely … black eyes that give them out. Those who sent them probably recommended that they meet people, communicate, enter houses, but they were categorically forbidden to break in without permission. And they cannot disobey their leaders.
Just what are they? Good or Bad?
