The strange photo is almost three years old. The robot "Curiosity" (Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity) made it in September 2012 - on the 50th day of his stay on the Red Planet. Filmed with the left navigation camera (Navcam: Left A).
The enthusiasts were amazed only the other day - immediately, as soon as they saw the shadow of a man in a spacesuit on the surface. Ufoblogger Scott C. Waring, who spoke about the find on his website UFO sightings daily, encourages him to take a look at the breathing balloons behind his back and at the helmet with tubes. "Cosmonaut" stretched out his right hand to the equipment of the robot and twists something there.
Scott Waring has three hypotheses.
First: "Curiosity" is on Earth, so one of the service personnel got into the frame. And behind him is not balloons, but a backpack, on his head - tousled hair. Or a hat.
The second hypothesis: someone from the maintenance personnel got into the frame, but from the number of NASA employees who are now on Mars. That is, the Americans have a base there. Its inhabitants - people - naturally walk in spacesuits.
Third: the Earth robot is twisted by a Martian. Or some other humanoid alien who also needs a spacesuit.
The photo with the "cosmonaut" was posted on the NASA website along with dozens of others taken that day by a navigation camera. Without any explanation about the figure. As if she didn’t.
Sober analysts do not see the "cosmonaut" either. It is believed that the robot's shadow was so bizarre. And its protruding elements formed an entertaining composition. Here, for example, the "hand" - in the picture taken a few seconds later and from a slightly different angle, it is also there. But it no longer looks like a part of the body. The illusion of the torso is created by a large light detail of the robot in the foreground - as if it outlines the hip. A smaller detail - it is slightly to the right - outlines the belly. The glass of the headset is formed by a stone on the surface.
