Over time, the Arctic Ocean will be largely similar to the Atlantic - say from the pages of the authoritative scientific publication Science, representatives of an international collaboration of scientists formed by specialists from the United States of America, the Russian Federation, Norway, Germany and Poland. The site Lenta.ru writes briefly about the conclusions of scientists.

“If we pay attention to the processes of vertical mixing of water masses taking place in the Arctic Ocean, we will notice that they increasingly resemble analogous processes in the ice-free regions of the Atlantic Ocean. This fact indicates the rapid rate of melting of the ice covering the Arctic Ocean,”- say the authors of the study.

According to which, the alarming rate of ice melting is becoming more and more accelerated. Already in 2011, all the eastern regions of the Eurasian basin lost their ice crust, and by now the situation has only worsened, at the same time, very significantly.

The decreasing ice thickness, as noted by experts, provokes a more pronounced mixing of water, which is not typical for the Arctic Ocean.

The changes can have the most unpredictable consequences for the ecological system of the region.
