Sayvit is the name of the archaeological complex, which contains an amazing stone. It was discovered by archaeologists almost fifty kilometers from the city of Abankay in Peru. The stone has been lying at an altitude of 3.5 kilometers above sea level for several thousand years. And on its upper part, a miniature model of some unknown ancient city is made.

The height of the Peruvian granite boulder is 2.28 meters, the diameter of the lower part is about 8 meters, and the upper part is just over 11 meters. One of the most surprising facts is that nowhere else in the vicinity are there such huge granite stones. And this is the first question - where and how the granite of such an impressive mass was brought here.

The second mystery is a three-dimensional miniature model of some ancient city, made on the top of the stone. It is also surprising that not only streets and buildings, terraces and fields, temples and squares are carved in granite, but even a system of water canals that is still in operation today. Each time after the rain, water flows through tiny stone canals and rivers, as if irrigating the same stone fields. Further, water jets flow down through 38 drain holes located along the edges of the granite slab.

On the stone, you can also see the carved figures of sacred creatures, as well as some plants (corn) and animals (cougars, monkeys, lizards, snakes, frogs and others). Some scholars speculate that golden idols were once located inside each miniature drain hole, which were later stolen by the Spanish conquerors. In total, archaeologists were able to count on a granite Peruvian boulder from two hundred to five hundred small details.

About the purpose of this granite city-model, so far, only assumptions and disputes are being made. Most scientists are sure that the artifact is a model of the ancient city of the Incas. However, no other similar miniatures left by the Incas have been found anywhere. And it is not possible to create such a map from the point of view of topography without special accurate knowledge and professional equipment. Although, perhaps, ancient people could have a much deeper knowledge that helped them do without high-precision equipment, measuring instruments and special construction equipment.

There is another assumption about the purpose of the stone in Sayvit: perhaps it is such a huge exotic toy for the child of some rich ruler. However, all the ancient rulers lived far from these places. Accordingly, if they ordered something like that as entertainment, it is most likely not so far from home.

Perhaps the stone model city was some kind of textbook, for example, on irrigation. Or maybe it was some kind of religious building that was a holy place for the locals. Scientists have yet to find answers to all these questions. In the meantime, tourists can admire the amazing work of the ancient master who made this unusual layout. And for those who are not going to visit Peru in the near future, but want to see the attraction, in the city of San Isidro in Lima there is a copy of the Saivita stone made by a Peruvian sculptor.
