There are places on our planet where the fabric of reality becomes so thin that it becomes possible for a person to look beyond the border of the familiar world and see or feel non-material entities that inhabit parallel realities. Such meetings are dangerous for people, because the inhabitants of other worlds are not always friendly towards a person. Therefore, even in ancient times, such places received bad fame and people tried to bypass them. With the advent of the Enlightenment and an attempt to rationalize everything around them, people began to be skeptical about the warnings of their ancestors, considering this to be nothing more than superstitions and inventions of a person unable to explain natural phenomena.

The mystery of the sinister tunnel

Foggy Albion is famous not only for its fanatical football fans, prim traditions and love for tea ceremonies. Fans of mystical phenomena and mysteries know that there is a special island in England, where there are a huge number of places that allow a person to look into the world of ghosts.

In the city of Belfast, as in many other cities, there is a subway. It would seem that there is nothing strange or mysterious, but between the stations "David Eyre" and "Ashby" very often there are incidents that defy logical explanation. The tunnel was dug under the ruins of a Catholic monastery, which was plundered in ancient times. All attempts to restore the monastery from the ruins ended in failure. After all, only the monks began, on the territory of the destroyed monastery, to rebuild buildings and conduct divine services, as soon as some kind of disaster, an epidemic, a poor harvest, and robber attacks began to occur in the area. In the end, the local cardinal decided not to touch the strange ruins.

Not far from the mysterious tunnel there is an old abandoned cemetery. In the 18th century, cholera raged in the city of Belfast, which claimed the lives of thousands of citizens. During the epidemic, the city authorities were concerned about the localization of the disease. The burial of dead people took place very quickly. The unfortunate dead were buried in mass graves, without a proper Christian burial. Since that time, there are legends that on especially dark nights in the cemetery you can hear the groans and cries of people buried here, who cannot find eternal peace and are waiting for a person who will be able to conduct a proper Christian burial ceremony for all of them.

During the digging of the tunnel itself, there were some accidents. Several workers have died under extremely strange circumstances. The surviving miners say that as soon as the poor fellows went into the side tunnel, it was as if the shadow of a man rushed behind him, after which there immediately occurred a collapse, which buried the miners alive. In the course of the work, a pagan burial was discovered, made in a natural cave. The grave belonged to a local military leader, scientists have found evidence of human sacrifice in this burial. The archaeologists themselves constantly felt discomfort while studying the grave; many refused to continue the work. Some said that during the work they did not leave the feeling of the presence of someone else in the burial room, sometimes if the person managed to turn around sharply, then at the border of his vision he managed to notice a certain vibration of the air, as if some shadow was trying to get over the man's back.

Underground horror stories

One of the workers, named Billy Sheckley, spoke of an event that happened to him while he was behind his shift. Walking unhurriedly along the development, he suddenly heard the quiet ringing of a multitude, it seemed to him, of small bells. Interested in this, he went to the ringing and when he turned into a small tunnel, he simply froze with horror, the light of the lantern snatched out of the darkness a skeleton, dressed in dirty decayed rags, which was walking towards the station "Ashby". The light of the lantern went out, and Billy plunged into impenetrable darkness, after a few seconds the lantern started working again, the ghost disappeared. The story quickly spread among other workers, leading to massive layoffs from metro construction. Employers had to significantly raise wages to attract people to work.

An even more horrible story happened to two young people who decided to check the reliability of rumors of the existence of ghosts in the subway. The guys went underground and began their research, according to an agreement between them, one of them walked ahead with a lantern, and the second followed him. As one of the participants in this eerie study says, as soon as they descended underground and walked about 100 meters, a wave of horror fell upon them, it was worth not a little effort to continue moving. The atmosphere was so eerie that the friends did not even talk, only the puffing and footsteps of a comrade behind him calmed the guy in front a little. The friends were underground for about an hour, and when they approached the exit, the man in front had a desire to turn to his friend and ask him about his feelings, but when he turned around, he was horrified to find thatthat there is no one behind. Various thoughts flashed through his head, one more terrible than the other, that his friend had fallen behind and got lost underground without a lantern or was injured.

Before contacting the police, the young man decided to go to his friend's parents and tell about what had happened, but when he came home, he found his friend drinking coffee. To all inquiries, he confessed that he was frightened and almost immediately turned back away from the subway tunnels. His more daring comrade simply froze with fear, because he just realized that all the time that he was underground, an unknown creature was with him.

There are many similar stories, some of them are true, others are just an invention of human fantasy. One thing is certain, ghosts often visit our world, penetrating into it through anomalous faults, such as the one located between the metro stations "David Air" and "Ashby" in Belfast.
