In the history of world cinema, there are many so-called "damned" films. For the most part, these are horror films, but there are also films shot in other genres. One thing unites them: either some dramatic events take place on the set, or the actors, members of the film crew and sometimes even the audience are haunted by some ominous rock.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

The picture based on the famous children's fairy tale has an unhappy fate. Firstly, during the filming, several directors changed, and secondly, accidents with the actors happened every now and then.

For example, Jack Haley, who played the Tin Woodman, developed an eye infection caused by makeup containing aluminum dust. And actress Margaret Hamilton received burns on her face as a result

explosion of pyrotechnics. Frank Morgan, who played the Wizard, got into a serious car accident after filming. Actresses Clara Blandick and Judy Garland, who also took part in the film, subsequently both committed suicide.

Superman (1951-1958), (1978-1983)

Promotional video:

Something bad has happened to all the actors who have ever played Superman. The first of these, George Reeves, died of a bullet wound under mysterious circumstances. The second, Christopher Reeve, fell from his horse and remained paralyzed for life. They say misfortunes happened to other artists as well.

The Exorcist (1973)

Even before filming began, a fire broke out in the house where they were planned. Only Regan's room - "the girl possessed by the devil" remained intact. When filming did begin, actress Ellen Burstyn, who played the role of Regan's mother, Chris McNeil, was seriously injured. Finally, after the end of filming, two actors died, who had "died" in the film before.

The Omen (1975)

The director of this painting, Peter Lanskoy, barely survived when a fire started in the hotel room where he was staying. Then, during filming in the reserve, two stuntmen were crippled by furious horses. Another tragedy happened to the director of the film crew: he was torn apart by a lion who accidentally got out of the cage!

But the misadventures did not end there. When screenwriter David Seltzer was returning to New York after filming, lightning struck his plane. The crash was barely avoided. On the same night, the plane on which the leading actor Gregory Peck was flying had an accident. Fortunately, it worked out too: the car was put on the water. By the way, shortly after Peck was approved for the role of the father of the main character, the Antichrist, his son committed suicide …

Director Richard Donner suffered complex fractures in a car accident. Special effects master Dillon Richardson managed to crash his car into a cargo van. His companion died, and he himself was left disabled …

Poltergeist (1982-1988)

Not only does the series tell about the paranormal, but screenwriter Steven Spielberg also came up with the idea to shoot real human bones in the picture!

One way or another, the shooting had the most tragic consequences. Actress Dominique Dunne, who starred in the first film, was strangled by jealousy by her own boyfriend. Shortly after the release of the second film, cancer took the life of Julian Beck, who played the priest.

In 1988, 12-year-old Heather O'Rourke, who was supposed to play Poltergeist-3, a girl kidnapped by the devil, was admitted to the hospital with a rare bowel disease. During the operation, her heart stopped …

A few years later, one of the young actors who starred in "Poltergeist" died in a road accident. Another was killed in unclear circumstances. The last victim was John P. White, who played the White Cloud Indian …

The Twilight Zone (1983)

In this fantastic picture there is an episode when the main character saves two children from captivity. As conceived by director John Landis, a helicopter was supposed to circle over the heads of the characters. Suddenly, the car lost control and fell on the heads of the actors. She crushed one of the children, and the performer of the leading role, Vic Morrow, and the second child were cut off with the propeller blades …

The Matrix (1999)

Singer Aliya, who was originally supposed to play in the film, died in a plane crash in 2001. The actress Gloria Foster, who played the Oracle, also passed away a couple of years after the film was released. And during the filming on the set, an accident occurred, due to which the leading actor Keanu Reeves ended up in the hospital.

The Passion of the Christ (2004)

The main role in the film was played by actor Jim Caviezel. Throughout the filming, he was constantly haunted by various misfortunes. First, his body was blistered from the layered makeup, then he dislocated his shoulder, and finally he was struck by lightning! True, everything ended well.

Batman (2005-2012)

At the very beginning of the filming of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, a stuntman who dubbed the lead actor died in a car accident. Soon the actor Morgan Freeman, who played Lucius Fox, also got into an accident and was in a hospital in serious condition. Heath Ledger, who played the Joker, died of a drug overdose.

When the third part of the trilogy premiered in one of the cinemas in the city of Aurora (Colorado), a certain James Holmes opened fire in the hall. 12 people became its victims.

"Secrets of the Old Hotel" (2011)

The film is about the ghostly hotel "Yankee Pedlar Inn." It was filmed in a real hotel in Connecticut. During the filming, a variety of devilry happened more than once: the TV turned on and off by itself, doors opened and closed, electric bulbs burst. And the members of the film crew regularly had strange, very vivid and realistic dreams.

In addition, it turned out that the number chosen by director Ty West for filming was really "damned": it was repeatedly observed paranormal phenomena.
