Mystical legends go around the Kaliningrad region

Stories about encounters with ghosts have been wandering in the village of Zagorskoye near Chernyakhovsk since the war. Over the past 60 years, there have already been several dozen stories, and their sources are not always local residents.

“Once we stayed late in the village,” recalls Anatoly Nikolaev, an employee of Komsomolskaya Pravda. - The gravel road, along which we had to go to the village, was illuminated by a single lantern. When I was almost level with him, I saw a girl, she was walking towards me. It seemed a little strange, because all the young people from the surrounding villages were at the dances. The girl looked unusual: a pale, expressionless face, loose hair and a long, light dress that almost reached her toes. The stranger passed me like a blind woman. I automatically turned after her. She walked, as if nothing had happened, with the same speed. It was so quiet that I think the whole neighborhood could hear the pebbles rattling under my feet. But there was not a sound from her steps, as if a stranger was walking through the air.

A mystical legend, which possibly explains the origin of numerous tales of encounters with ghosts, appeared in these places along with the first settlers. It was told by the Germans right after the war.

Tradition said that a seventeen-year-old boy died at the beginning of the century on a farm in East Prussia. The funeral was held in the nearest village where the church was. The beloved young man, heartbroken, sat at the grave for a whole day. Four years later, her friends got married, and some of them had children. The girl remained lonely.

The First World War began. The father of a rural young lady disappeared somewhere on the Russian front. They say that after that she completely lost her mind. She assured everyone that her first and only fiance did not actually die a few years ago, but simply hid from her and then went to war. The distraught woman began to walk along the surrounding roads in anticipation of her beloved. In this state, she lived up to 50 years. In 1945, the woman decided to "order" her death. Knowing how dashing Russian planes and guns are destroying bridges, she reached the nearest railway crossing, sat down on a track and began to wait … The last thing the German soldiers saw was a bloody piece of her long dress.

A couple of months after this, eyewitness accounts began to appear in these places, who met a mysterious silhouette on their way.

The closer we got to Zagorskoye, the more there were still not restored ruins of Prussian farms. The center of the village is spread out in the shadow of a church standing on a high hill. Now there is an Orthodox church in a medieval building. All entrances to it were locked. The strangest thing is that they were entangled in a cobweb, although the locals assured us that the other day there was a service there.

Sunlight spilled onto the church hill through the branches of the huge trees. Several German tombstones glittered here with centuries-old granite. The lifetime of one of the buried men coincided with the one about which the legend says. Local machine operators said that recently someone has got into the habit of turning out crosses and monuments at the local cemetery. Only the relatives of the dead will restore everything, as the next day everything is repeated.

- And also a very strange young woman began to appear in the vicinity a couple of months ago, - they told us in secret at the local post office. - She seemed to be trying to sell, but no one bought anything from her. We do not even know where she went later, but we know for sure that the woman is not from our area.

The inhabitants of Zagorsk suggested that there really is a bridge blown up during the war very nearby. They say that when a Soviet shell got there, someone was standing there.

- Do you need to the destroyed bridge? - asked us with a squint. - Well, look, the place is unkind. It's easy to get there: 200 meters - along the road, there will be a square on the right … and there is nothing on it.

Near the bridge, we really did not find anything except two or three sheds. But the crossing itself is terrifying. The viaduct with vaulted gaps between the pillars looks like it was built in the days of Nero. In the center, the bridge is “broken”. Where there is now emptiness, according to legend, the life of the insane "eternal bride" was interrupted. And if the stories are to be believed, from here her soul began to wander around in the eternal search for her deceased groom.

Near Kaliningrad, ghosts also roam.

They say that in the village of Vysokoe, Guryevsky district, at night, someone knocks at the windows of those houses where one of the household members died, and sometimes the lights come on by themselves and the doors open.

“We had a terrible accident near the village about 20 years ago,” says one of the residents of Vysoky, Valentina Makrushkina. - Four guys from Lithuania crashed - two girls and two guys. They said that they were the bride and groom and their witnesses. We were going to buy something for the wedding in Kaliningrad. Maybe now their souls are wandering in our village? I personally believe in it.

In the winter of 2007, another otherworldly story hit the media. One of the local TV channels showed a video that was allegedly filmed by two Kaliningraders on the Mamonovskaya highway. For a split second, the mysterious silhouette of a woman dressed in an old-fashioned long dress appeared in the frame. According to the authors of the video, they saw a ghost on the side of the road.

However, then the sensation turned out to be a "taint": it turned out that a suspiciously similar video was posted on the Internet a week before it was "filmed" on the highway to Mamonovo. And in fact, the video was recorded not in our region, but near Novosibirsk.
