The Satka district of the Chelyabinsk region can be safely called a "territory of miracles". You will not find so many stories about all kinds of devilry anywhere else. Locals report encounters in the Ural forests with wood goblin, more similar to common descriptions of Bigfoot. Moreover, it is worth noting that these stories are not limited by the time frame of the dashing 90s, motley on the sensation. The first reports of observations of giant creatures overgrown with wool date back to the pre-war period, while they were recorded in the early 80s, when, if the public knew about the possible existence of Bigfoot, then a very narrow category of those interested.

Local historian Vitaly Petrovich Chernetsov (1938 - 2001) was the main driving force behind the collection of information about everything unusual and mysterious in the vicinity of the Satka region; over the years of his research, he collected an unimaginable amount of material, often referred to as "folk art" by a rationally thinking man in the street: tales, fairy tales and legends. But unlike folk tales and other folklore array, most of Chernetsov's records were like questionnaires in which eyewitnesses shared their observations. Of course, a separate layer of materials was exactly what ethnographers and local historians do - collecting local legends. But only the legend differs from the eyewitness story by the presence of a certain morality, the essence of which is revealed through heroes and images. And what moral component can be hidden in the story abouthow a shepherd watching a herd of cows grazing in mountainous areas far from people accidentally noticed a huge fur-covered creature emerging from the forest …? Unfortunately, but Vitaly Petrovich published only a small part of his most interesting local history works, all the main body of information remained in the format of manuscripts. Bigfoot is a baked potato lover
In 1972, a shepherd, Sergei Yegorovich Sherstobitov, heard that something was stirring in the bushes. I looked in the direction of the source of the sound and saw a huge hairy one fifty meters away, but not a bear, but rather something similar to a man. It is interesting that the dog did not bark, but only barked harmlessly, as if not seeing the threat. The forest monster, after standing for a while, disappeared into the bushes. A couple of days later, returning in the evening to his camping home - a plywood house in the forest, he found that in the absence of the owner there was someone in the house, but despite the fact that the house was “searched”, nothing “valuable” disappeared - a knife, tobacco, matches and salt remained in place. The only thing the thief hoped for was baked potatoes, they were smashed right with the peel, scraps of which were scattered throughout the room. One night, a few days later, the same shepherd again heard outside the hut some kind of fuss, rustles,squeaks. With a little noise, "someone" retired. The dog again ignored the appearance of the intruder, demonstrating absolute indifference. The next morning the shepherd discovered an excavated fire, as well as many footprints similar to the footprints of a human foot, with the only difference that the inheritor had an unrealistically huge foot.
It is noteworthy that the potatoes, which were baked in the coals of a smoldering fire, disappeared again. Apparently, someone liked this "delicacy" and again smelling the smell of the "liver" this someone could not resist the temptation.

The tale of the Karataev stone
There is a legend about the Karataev stone in Satka. Once the girls went to this mountain for berries, and they met a shurale (goblin). The girls got scared and fled in different directions, and one of them fell off the cliff and crashed. A similar story is told about the Karataev stone. Moreover, the goblin that was seen on this cliff was not only hairy, but also horned. But the horns, according to Vitaly Petrovich, could be "attached" in stories and then - for "psychological reasons".
Two fleeting meetings
In 1970, Chernetsov recorded two reports of observations of Bigfoot (goblin) at once, one of which occurred thirty years ago. The eyewitness worked as a senior groom at the Satka Metallurgical Plant, then the blast furnaces worked on charcoal, so the plant kept many horses. On the instructions of the management, the groom was instructed to deal with hay making. For mowing, we chose a meadow near Lake Zyuratkul, located near the mountain ranges of Maly Kyla and Moskal. Early in the morning, having arrived at the place where the procurement work began, an eyewitness noticed a strange creature on the outskirts of the meadow. Everything happened so quickly that the astonished groom did not have time to properly examine the strange creature, but he was able to notice some features - the growth of the monster was taller than a human, instead of an animal muzzle he had a face, though completely like the rest of the body, covered with hair.broad shoulders, the creature moved exclusively on two legs, but the gait was still somewhat different from the usual human. The creature, apparently, followed the booth in which the workers slept, approached it, but at the last moment noticed that it had itself become the object of observation.
Another interesting case was recorded by a Satka local historian in a conversation with another Ailin shepherd - Sergei Yegorovich Sherstobitov. Sergei Yegorovich grazed state farm cows in the area of Nurgush and Berezyak. It was there that he met an unfamiliar creature in the summer of 1972. In the morning, when Sherstobitov was fanning the fire to warm up the tea, it seemed to him that in the bushes someone had stirred. He raised his head and in 40 - 50 meters from him he saw a huge hairy creature, similar to a human, but very tall. He had no clothes at all, his whole body was “covered with a mouse coat,” his arms were also hairy and even longish, his body was slightly stooped, like an old man's. After a short glance, the creature turned and retreated into the forest. Sergei Yegorovich drew attention to the behavior of his dog - the herding dog several times benignly barked in the direction of the unknown creature and immediately calmed down, wagging his tail, gazing intently in the direction of the devil.
