Zavodskaya Street is located almost in the very center of Chernigov. This is the private sector. But in order for some animal unknown to science to be able to get there unnoticed, it needs to pass several microdistricts of high-rise buildings. Be that as it may, but it was here that the almost legendary Chupacabra was noted for its crimes. As forensic experts say, the handwriting is still the same. Opened cages with rabbits and killed animals without a drop of blood on small bodies. Chernihiv operatives even went to the place of the last incident, which happened a week ago.
“I've never come across anything like this in my practice,” says Alexander Malysh, deputy head of the Chernigov city police. - But my personal opinion: the cause of death of thirteen rabbits can be the most prosaic. For example, someone decided to take revenge on someone and simply killed the unfortunate animals - all of them broke their backs.
“We drove out to Zavodskaya Street immediately after the incident,” says operative Valery Nesterenko. - The owners of the killed animals refused to write a statement, so we just limited ourselves to inspecting the yard. They even took a dog handler with a dog, but the bloodhound could not take the trail. The fact is that even before our arrival, EMERCOM employees and veterinarians worked in the yard. Everything was trampled, some of the dead rabbits were moved. The owner of the rabbits (she asked not to name her name in the press. - Author) recalls that at eight in the evening she fed the animals and soon went to rest. At about one in the morning, a neighbor's husky barked loudly and somehow alarmingly. But the woman did not attach much importance to this. The neighbor's dog often did not let me sleep. Such dogs are popularly called "hollow".
- In the morning I go out into the yard and see - right next to the threshold lies the torn carcass of a rabbit, - recalls Mrs. Elena. - I called my husband, and we rushed to the cages, and there … All the rabbits were killed, and their dead carcasses were laid out in a path towards the garden.
- Did you notice how the rabbits were killed?
- Yes of course. Most have a fractured spine, two have a collapsed neck. The arriving militiamen asked me: could someone have taken revenge on us in this way for something? But we have no enemies!
- Have the cells been hacked? Are the metal bars intact?
- The cages … were closed with a carnation, just as I had left them in the evening. But one could see how someone first tried to get to the rabbits from above through the slate. It probably didn't work out. Then this someone pushed aside a heavy wooden bucket (apparently to dig up the ground). And only then did I notice the carnation with which the cage door was locked.

- The carnation-"weaving", which served as a lock, was slightly unbent. Apparently, in this way, an animal or a person got inside the cage, - says forensic expert Dmitry Gorokh. - I do not presume to say for sure that this is the work of a person. It is unlikely that he would begin to unbend the nail when you can simply turn it and calmly penetrate the cage. But I don’t know who could have done it. The owner of the slain rabbits thought it was a fox's trick, and she was more interested in whether the animal was sick with rabies. The veterinary service did not find rabies.
A couple of carcasses of the killed rabbits were taken for autopsy by the zoologist Oleg Poyasnik, who for some time now turned from one of the main skeptics into a hunter for chupacabra.
“I never trust rumors and I double-check everything myself,” the scientist says. - Unfortunately, by my arrival the whole yard was trampled. Emergencies Ministry, police, journalists … No traces could be found. Very sorry. I so wanted to check my guess once again. Several times, traveling to similar places of occurrence, I paid attention to a very strange detail. I have always seen traces of this mysterious animal that left the cells. But never - traces that lead to the cells. This is a phenomenon that I cannot explain!
- And often you were able to find traces of the Chupacabra?
- In winter, on the snow, I many times found a clear three-toed track about the size of an adult's palm. Witnesses who have seen the Chupacabra describe it as a cross between a kangaroo and a dog, about 70 meters high, which very often moves on its hind legs. The weight of this beast should be rather big, but … The depth of the trail in the snow is only one and a half centimeters! I conducted the experiment by throwing my little dog into the snow - it almost fell through! It turns out that the Chupacabra is very light! This is another mystery.
From the scene, I took two carcasses of slaughtered rabbits to do an autopsy at home. I was struck by the acrid sickening smell that emanated from the dead animals. He was, I would say, some kind of chemical.
Oleg Vladimirovich became interested in the mysterious Chupacabra this winter. Before the case when he found a claw in the Chernihiv region that could not belong to any animal he knew, the zoologist was critical of the version of the existence of a mythical rabbit killer.
Meanwhile, the Chernihiv region today can compete with Volyn in the number of signals about chupacabra. Recall that recently in the village of Chemer, Kozeletsky district, a local resident with a pitchfork killed some strange animal, which, according to the description and photographs, resembles a chupacabra cub! Why is there an area. Since July of this year, in Chernigov itself, and not on the outskirts, but almost in the center, several alarming cases have been recorded when a strange animal with ingenuity entered the cages of domestic rabbits and killed them.
So, for example, on the night of August 28, an unknown animal climbed into the courtyard of Natalia Vorui on Chervona Street in Chernigov. The next morning they found broken cages and 35 killed rabbits. Earlier in the neighborhood, someone killed eight chickens. The owners of the dead animals claim that they were all bled.
Here is what Natalya Vorui recalls:
“At four in the morning, I heard a squeal like a dog,” says a 49-year-old housewife. - It was raining, I thought some dog was hit by a car. I went outside to look. Didn't notice any dog. And when I got up at ten to six, I saw that the front wall of the nearest rabbit cage had been torn off, which had been nailed down. Doors are open or broken on other cages. And the whole land around is littered with the carcasses of our dead rabbits.

The daughter of Natalya Vorui, who works in the police, was sure that all this was just someone's stupid prank. But no human tracks were found around - only paw prints that looked like a dog. I decided to ask familiar employees to take a couple of rabbit carcasses for examination. It turned out that their ridges, ribs and legs were broken, as well as their lungs were bitten. And, strangest of all, there is absolutely no blood in the carcasses of the rabbits.
On the same day, Natalya's neighbor Nikolai Novichenko recalls that his dogs, which he usually locks in an aviary for the night, behaved very strangely.
- That morning the dogs … fled from the enclosure. I found them, frightened, only at the end of the garden, - says the man.
Another case occurred in September in Aleksandrovka (one of the districts of Chernigov). Nikolay Sereda claims that he saw three Chupacabras in his yard at night.
“We were already asleep,” recalls Nikolai. - I woke up from the barking of my Hasan, the Central Asian Shepherd Dog. I run out into the yard, and the dog stands and barks at the rabbit cages. I listened. Something was happening near the cells. Sounds were heard, as if someone was breaking something wooden, while jerking. The son-in-law also woke up. The two of us decided to come closer to the rabbit cages.
In the darkness it seemed that someone, bent over, was standing with his back to us. At first I decided that this was a man, and shouted at the intruder: "Well, come on from here!" And it will suddenly jump away from the cage! What kind of person is there! It's a beast! Exactly over one and a half meters tall, on its hind legs, the muzzle is thin and long. Doesn't look like a dog. And then two more Chupacabras rushed out of the darkness to scream. (I have no doubt that it was them!) And let's run, jump on their hind legs around the yard. I realized that they were afraid of us. And we were scared of them!
Gen's son-in-law was not taken aback and untied Hassan. He immediately rushed to one Chupacabra. The other two immediately came to the aid of their brother. They all huddled together and rolled into a ball under the hazel, into the thickets. Suddenly the fuss subsided. I called the dog, and she ran to me. And those animals were nowhere to be found! Where they could have disappeared - I can't imagine. There is a small hole under the fence - ten centimeters in height. Did they squeeze through it and run away to the neighboring garden?
Zoologist Oleg Poyasnik, who visited the scene, told about two cases of attacks by chupacabras on domestic rabbits in the very center of Chernigov.
“A friend told me about the first case,” the scientist recalls. - He bought expensive rabbits of the Flanders breed. I bought 18 pieces and went to the neighboring house to show off to my godfather. It was evening. The man was absent for about an hour, and when he returned, he saw that all the animals … lay dead, neatly folded into two pyramids. Exactly nine pieces each!
Another ghastly incident happened recently. In a strong metal cage sat a rabbit with eight rabbits. In the morning, the owners wake up and see a terrible picture. Seven dead rabbits with broken ridges are neatly stacked near the cage. There is a rabbit in a cage, also with a shattered spine and … torn off ears! Only one rabbit survived, which hid in the far corner of the cage. Do you know what is most interesting in this story? The cage was absolutely not damaged! Someone pulled the three-week-old cubs through a five-by-five-centimeter hole in a mesh-netting! Apparently, through the same hole, the beast tried to pull out an adult rabbit, but only tore off her ears.
On top of the cage, as if mocking people, the chupacabra put … the eye of a murdered rabbit! Moreover, it was removed from the eye socket of the animal, I would say, with surgical precision!
“I am a zoologist. But I'm afraid that the Chupacabra, if it really exists, has nothing to do with zoology."
Oleg Poyasnik cannot wait for winter, so that when the snow falls, he can go in the footsteps of the Chupacabra. But the scientist doubts that someone will ever catch her.
- I'm a zoologist. But I'm afraid that the chupacabra, if it really exists, has nothing to do with zoology, - says Oleg Vladimirovich. - Often, when people killed some strange animal, they called me and said: we have the corpse of a chupacabra here. Recently in Novomoskovsk, Dnepropetrovsk region, a businessman with a stick killed a strange animal in his garden, which stood on its hind legs and … ate a watermelon! I have seen photographs of this beast. Really impressive! The body of an animal that looks like a dog is absolutely hairless. Only a small mane extends from the head to the tail. Huge fangs, large claws and an elongated neck, covered with folds, like a Shar Pei dog … But, having carefully examined the photo of the animal from different angles, I realized that this is still not a Chupacabra. The front legs are not much shorter than the hind legs. Imagine this creature jumping on two legs,complicated.
- So what is it, in your opinion? I saw those photos too …
- It is possible that this is a raccoon dog. Rather, a mutant raccoon dog. This summer, there was an abnormal heat in Ukraine. So such a bald puppy was born. But I'm not sure about that. I will choose the time and still go, I will do an autopsy of this beast. The businessman who killed him keeps the animal carcass in ice at a temperature of 20 degrees below zero.
- And yet, what is the Chupacabra?
- Perhaps this is an animal still unknown to science. None of the predators kill other animals for excitement or pleasure. He will bite off even a small piece from his victim. And here is a senseless cruel carnage. Moreover, the way the chupacabra lays out the corpses of animals suggests that she wants to show us something. Maybe the fact that she has intelligence? He puts in equal piles, lays out with carcasses of rabbits (the usual version) or chickens (as it was in the summer in the village of Troeshina in Kiev) paths from the cages towards the garden, sorts by color.
Maybe a new form of life is emerging right now before our eyes? Remember: dinosaurs disappeared suddenly, giving way to mammals …
Although there is a more prosaic version: everything that happens is the work of … baboon monkeys.
- Why are baboons in Ukraine ?! - I am amazed.
- Everything is very simple. During the first Georgian-Abkhaz war, the Sukhum monkey nursery was bombed. Since that time, several generations of baboons have already grown and adapted in the mountains. They could well have migrated to Ukraine. After all, Caucasian wolves appeared in the Luhansk region, fleeing the Chechen war.
- But here in Ukraine, especially in winter, the weather is clearly not suitable for monkeys!
- Baboons are not afraid of frost. In addition, in appearance, they may well resemble the Chupacabra, as witnesses describe it. Height - about the same: meter fifty - meter seventy. They move on their hind legs and on all fours. The muzzles are sharp, elongated. Much overlaps. In addition, baboons have hands with which they can open the most ingenious latches on cages. Why are rabbits killed? Maybe to take food from them. Or just out of passion. Although … this version still does not explain most of the mysterious phenomena associated with the Chupacabra.
