Is it possible to kill a human soul?

The depth of a person's moral fall, his inability and unwillingness to change something in his posthumous existence inevitably raises the question of whether the human soul can be destroyed and, along with it, the self-conscious human principle. It may seem that such a question contains an internal contradiction. People for the most part associate the concept - the human soul, with the immortal principle. However, in fact, it is not the soul that is immortal, but the spirit.

Manas, or human consciousness is always the arena of a struggle between two principles - the immortal higher and the lower mortal. And if in a whole chain of incarnations it preferred to identify itself with its animal, the lower principle, then sooner or later it degrades to such an extent that its natural connection with the higher principle - the spirit - weakens and breaks. Being filled with low-vibration energy of the lower principles, the consciousness is not able to perceive the impulses of the high-vibration spiritual principle of its own being - the monad, and the latter leaves its unfit container, which has lost its ability to evolve.

• In the famous book E. Barker "Letters of the Living Dead" gave an example of the vampiric activity of an elementary, who during his earthly life was unable to overcome the addiction to alcohol that had killed him. “First of all, you should know that there are many types of hell, and they are, to a greater extent, the work of our own hands. This is one of those platitudes that are factual.

One day, motivated by the desire to find that particular kind of hell to which the drunkard should be drawn, I found that part of the astral sphere that covers the earth, which corresponds to one of the countries where drunkenness is especially thriving. Souls freed from the body usually remain close to the places where they lived, unless there is any important reason for their removal from there.

I met no difficulty and soon found a hell filled with drunkards. What do you think they were doing? Repented of their weakness? Not at all. They crowded around places where alcohol fumes and even heavier radiations from abusers make the atmosphere so sickening. It is not surprising that people with a sensitive organization do not like taverns so much.

You would turn away in disgust if you saw what I saw there. One or two examples are enough. I started by bringing myself to a neutral state so that I could see simultaneously in both worlds.

The young man with an anxious gaze and a suffering face entered one of those "wine palaces" in which the thick gilding and brilliant polishing of fake mahogany inspire the unfortunate traveler that he is enjoying the luxury of "a kingdom from this world." The young man's clothes were shabby, and his shoes had seen many kinds. The face was not shaved for a long time. He leaned over to the counter, greedily emptying his glass of some kind of soul-destroying concoction. And next to him, taller than him and bending over him so that the repulsive, swollen, terrible face was pressed against the face of the young man, as if in order to inhale his alcoholic breath, stood one of the most terrifying astral beings, which I had to be seen in this world. The hands of this creature (I use this word to express its vitality) gripped the body of a young man,one long arm wrapped around his shoulders, the other wrapped around his hips. It literally sucked out the wine-soaked vitality of its victim, absorbing them, absorbing them in order to satisfy through them its passion, which death only increased tenfold.

Was this creature from the realm of hell? - you ask. Yes, for I could see his inner state and be convinced of his suffering. Forever (the word "forever" can be used for what seems infinite) it was doomed to thirst and thirst and never find satisfaction.

Only that part of his consciousness remained in him that once made him a man, that weak spark that gave him from time to time a fleeting insight into the monstrous horror of his own situation. It was not a desire to be saved, but the very realization of the impossibility of deliverance only intensified his torment. And fear was visible in his eyes, fear of the future into which he could not look, but which - he felt it - drew him to even greater torment; before the future, when the astral particles of his present shell will no longer be able to hold together in the absence of a soul that unites them, when they begin to pull and tear what is left of his astral nerves - in horror and torment to tear and break the form that is already was so close to its end. Because as soon as the soul is preserved, the same that is forsaken by the soul, must perish and disintegrate into its component parts.

And the young man, leaning against the counter of this gilded alcoholic palace, felt an inexpressible horror and tried to leave this place; but the hands of the creature who was now his master gripped him stronger and stronger, the disgusting cheek covered with vapors pressed closer and closer to his cheek, the vampire's desire caused a reciprocal desire in his sacrifice, and the young man demanded another glass.

Truly, earth and hell touch each other, and there is no border drawn between them.

I have seen a hell of lust and a hell of hate; the hell of deceit, where every object that the inhabitant of hell tries to grab turns into something different, the opposite of the desired object, where there was an eternal mockery of the truth, and where there was nothing real, where everything became - changeable and incorrect like the lie itself - its own antithesis …

I saw the distraught faces of those who did not completely surrender to the lies, what terrible efforts they made to grasp the reality that immediately melted in their hands. Because the habit of deceit, transferred to this world of changeable forms, surrounds the untruthful person with ever-changing images that never cease to tease and elude her."

• On the nature of the Monad, H. P. Blavatsky wrote in The Secret Doctrine: “… it does not belong to this world … and can only be compared with the inviolable star of divine light and fire, cast down on our Earth as a saving board for individuals, in which she dwells. Namely, these latter must cling to it and, thus, through participation or communion with its divine nature, achieve immortality."

If a human personality has chosen the path of degradation and depravity, it cannot join its immortal spiritual principle due to the elementary discrepancy between the high-vibration nature of the monad and the “personality complex” oversaturated with negative energy information. A person who has lost his own spiritual principle is called "soulless" in esoteric teachings. For some time he will be able to exist both on the physical, and after his death - in the Subtle world, but because his spiritual principle has left his lower shells, the last physical death will mean the impossibility of his further reincarnation and the death of his personality in general.

• About spiritual death, which, unlike physical death, is a real catastrophe for a thinking being, H. P. Blavatsky wrote in her work "Isis Unveiled":

“… physical death, or the death of the body, is a beneficial measure in divine economy, aimed at the good of man, - a measure by which he approaches the highest goals of his existence. But there is another death, which is a violation of the divine order and the destruction of all human elements in the nature of man and all the possibilities of human happiness. This is a spiritual death that occurs before the decomposition of the body. "A person can have extensive mental development and have neither love for God, nor selfless love for man." When a person falls into love for himself and the world with its pleasures, losing love for God and for his neighbor, he falls from life to death.

The higher principles, which are the basic elements of his humanity, perish, and he lives only on the natural plane of his feelings. Physically he exists, spiritually he is dead. In relation to everything that belongs to the highest and only stable phase of existence, he is as dead as his body will be dead to all the joys, feelings and activities of this world when life leaves him. This spiritual death occurs as a result of disobeying the laws of spiritual life, which will be followed by the same punishment as disobeying the laws of physical existence. But the spiritually dead living still have their delights; they retain their intellectual powers and intense activity. All animal pleasures are at their service, and for many men and women they constitute the highest ideal of human happiness. The relentless pursuit of wealth, fun and entertainment in public life; cultivating graceful manners, dressing with taste, social benefits, difference in education intoxicate and delight these living dead (…). (H. P. Blavatsky, Isis Unveiled).

In the event that the monad of a vicious person leaves his astral shell, the latter for some time can still lead a painful, semi-conscious existence in the lower layers of the astral. Because the lower, mortal essence of man consists of different elements, such vicious souls, devoid of a spiritual principle and consisting of only lower elements, are called elementaries in esoteric doctrines. Elementaries are half-decayed astral shells that exist only due to vampirism.

Sensual attachments of the lower plan and moral vices are capable of dragging a person's soul into an abyss from which it will be impossible to get out. As it is said in esoteric sources, the souls of people suffering from severe forms of alcohol and drug addiction, after physical death, can lose their spiritual origin and exist for some time in the lower astral plane as elementaries, then to be completely destroyed. The same thing can happen to people who are spiritually deprived in their essence, who during their earthly life have indulged in debauchery. After their death, their astral shells become "incubi" and "succubus" (vampiric creatures of male and female nature).

The activity of elementaries may consist not only in vampirism and in the ability to negatively influence living people, "inciting" them to various vices. Sometimes elementaries prefer to feed themselves with the energy of low-spirit people not through the astral plane, but directly, settling for some time - until their destruction - into their astral body. Such phenomena are called obsession.
