Mathematicians working at the Ural Federal University announced that a new ice age will soon begin in the country. A variety of anthropogenic processes are now actively taking place in Antarctica. Experts decided to compare what changes have occurred in the climate over the past ten million years. As it turned out, cooling and warming came in turn. Before the onset of each new period, scientists noted that the same factors were happening. Exactly the same is observed today.
Scientists believe that the fact that glaciers began to melt in the Arctic, and the amount of vegetation in Antarctica is increasing, provoke a fairly rapid rise in the level of the World Ocean. Due to the active melting of ice, the water becomes fresh, which negatively affects its circulation. The amount of carbon dioxide is constantly increasing due to the fact that the amount of vegetation is increasing in Antarctica. At the same time, its amount on other continents begins to decrease.
Experts analyzed the changes and compared them with the past. Summing up, they said that water from the melting glaciers of Antarctica could very soon reach Russia, which could make part of Eurasia an icy desert.
