Lindsay's parents did not immediately understand who their daughter had caught. They put her prey in the same cage with other fish and took her home. And there they already saw that Lindsay's catch had bitten to death all the fish in the cage. The water was red with blood. When the girl's brother tried to pull the fish out of the container, she almost bit it with razor-sharp teeth.
The parents took the fish to a fishing tackle shop, where they were able to classify it as a red Amazonian piranha. One of the most dangerous of its types.
- The fish had sharp and big teeth, - says the girl's mother Christie Schutte, - I have never seen such.
When rumors of a piranha in the lake reached the city of Houston, they immediately announced that the fish had been thrown out by an illegal piranha breeder. According to the head of the wildlife department, their experts will soon check the lake for other piranhas.
