The Yurma ridge is the northernmost part of the Taganay ridge located in the Chelyabinsk region. Yurma is separated from Taganai by a swampy wooded valley. In Yurma, the South Ural ends, to the north is the Middle. The top (1004 meters) is a plateau overgrown with a dense spruce forest with many bizarre stone outliers. In the southern part of the ridge, there are the ruins of an observation tower. A beautiful view opens up from Yurma. To the south - Kruglitsa and Otkliknoy ridge, not far to the north the notorious city of Karabash smokes.

Yurma consists of crystalline rocks. Many legends are associated with it. According to one of the versions about the origin of the name, translated from Bashkir, the word "yurma" means "do not go there", since "Yur" means "to walk", "Ma" - "no", "no". According to another version, the name comes from the word "yurme" - "dense forest". There is also a third version. From the settlement of the Bashkirs Yurmi, who lived nearby.

There is also a fourth non-Bashkir version. In the end, the Kypchak tribe of Bashkord appeared in the Urals only at the end of the 9th century. Before them, other peoples lived here for tens of millennia. So Yurma is the “mother of light”, “Yur” is “light”, “ma” is “mother”.

There are two such “bad” spots on the ridge. The first - "Devil's Gate" - a rocky outlier of quartzite crystalline rocks. When you go up from the eastern side along the continuous barrows, the outliers really look like gates. They were probably called bloody tourists because of the difficulty of the ascent. The second place - "Devil's Window" - a triangular hole is located on the "Middle Settlement". Allegedly, if you go through this window once and only from east to west, you can make a wish that will definitely come true. Tourists feel some discomfort between these objects; navigation devices (compass, GPS) fail. Among other things, UFO flights are observed over Yurma.

The guys from the Chelyabinsk Cosmopoisk came here, measured the background radiation, the temperature difference, checked the operation of the instruments, and examined the vegetation. No deviations were recorded. The only thing that all members of the expedition felt was the oppressive atmosphere, a feeling of anxiety, as if someone was watching or staring at the back. Many tourists who visited Jurma also speak about this. By the way, it is these feelings that usually arise in the habitat of the Bigfoot, as witnesses have repeatedly testified.

I visited Yurma several times at different times of the year. There was discomfort, yes. I attributed this to a negative impression of Karabash, but then I did not think about the midrange. If he lives there, then he never made himself known. Our Chelyabinsk tourists who went on a winter hike tell about some incomprehensible sound at night in Yurma. It was definitely not the wind. The sound sounded like a rumbling or a mechanism in their words. All the same, Yurma remains a mysterious place.

Now a legend

In the dense forests of the Ural Mountains lived the giant giant Taganai, he had a beloved beauty Urenga. And there was a sworn enemy - the wicked witch Yurma. Yurma Urenga was exhausted, she died in the taiga, looking for Taganai. Taganai found out about this and killed Yurma, but he himself died of grief. So all three of them lie in the form of mountains: in the west - the beautiful Urenga, in the north - evil Yurma, and between them - gray-haired Taganay. The fragments of the magic mirror of Yurma became lakes. And there are nowhere so many of them as to the east of Jurma.

Yurma is located in the north of the Taganay National Park.
