The leadership of the State Duma and the Federation Council was offered to discuss the introduction in Russia of mandatory registration with a passport when entering the Internet.

The author of the initiative was the president of the Association of Entrepreneurs for the Development of Business Patriotism "Avanti" Rakhman Yansukov, reports TASS.

“We propose to introduce compulsory registration on the territory of the Russian Federation for citizens when accessing the Internet. Thus, any citizen wishing to use the Internet on the territory of Russia will have to provide an electronic version of a document proving his identity,”the head of the association said.

It also specifies that registration of minor citizens must be carried out according to the documents of their parents or legal representatives.

According to Yansukov, this "will make it possible to personify every citizen's action on the Internet and, as a result, to prevent illegal actions, and in the event of any such, to immediately identify the culprit." He also believes that such measures "will help to protect minors, as well as other vulnerable categories of citizens from the negative influence of the Network."

The relevant Duma Committee on Information Policy stated that they are ready to initiate a discussion on this topic, but consider it necessary to first find out the opinion of the Russians themselves about it.

This proposal is not innovative. Thus, the Austrian authorities from 2020 will oblige Internet users to indicate their real names by registering with a mobile phone number, which in this country is tied to the personal data of the subscriber.
