The new development will simplify the work of the police

Computers of a fundamentally new type, thinking like a person, will allow in the near future to produce the latest development of Russian physicists. They created electronic connections, analogous to synapses, that link neurons in the human brain.

According to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, their "electronic synapses" differ from those that scientists have created earlier in that they are nanosized.

In the brain, a synapse is a junction of neurons whose main function is to transmit a signal. In a computer, its electronic synapses (or memristors) are built into the computer's microcircuit. With the help of this element, brought almost to perfection, as in the human brain, the capabilities and speed of the computer will significantly increase. For example, a machine will recognize images and speech nearly millions of times faster and more accurately than it currently does. The development is especially useful for police officers, since the new "brain" will simplify the search for criminals. So, for example, reading images from video cameras in real time, he will be able to catch the right person in the crowd, even with poor visibility, which computers are not capable of now.

So that the plant does not have any difficulties with materials, the memristor is made on the basis of hafnium oxide, which is already in full use in modern transistors.
