Recently, neural networks have been used in almost all areas of human activity. This technology, it would seem, requires huge capacities and is inaccessible to ordinary users, remaining the lot of large corporations. However, an Intel subsidiary called Movidius is already launching the Neural Compute Stick. It has a size comparable to the most common flash drive, while inside the "hidden" powerful neural network with deep machine learning function.
The Neural Compute Stick can be programmed to design any neural network. In addition, it can be used as an accelerator that increases the power of the central processing unit of a computer or smartphone. According to Intel, the Neural Compute Stick will make neural network and artificial intelligence technologies more accessible to ordinary users. The main component of the device is the Myriad 2 VPU visual processing module. According to the CEO of Movidius, “The Myriad 2 VPU inside the Neural Compute Stick delivers extremely high efficiency. The performance is equivalent to 100 gigaflops with a power consumption of just 1 watt. This will allow working with neural networks in real time, even on mobile phones and tablets. This, in turn, will make artificial intelligence and neural networks independent of cloud services and huge computing stations."
