Two of the world's most influential tech billionaires recently converged on our world - both seriously concerned about the possibility that we live in some kind of Matrix - an artificial simulation - and they are actively working with scientists to get people out of it.
In an article in The New Yorker, author Ted Friend talks about how the so-called "simulation hypothesis" has been gaining popularity among the tech elite lately, according to which everything around us is a program, a specially created simulation, and not the real world. True, according to the same Ted Brand, there is good news - two billionaires are already trying to fix our unenviable position:
“A lot of people in Silicon Valley have become obsessed with the 'simulation hypothesis,' the argument that what we believe to be reality is actually computer generated. Two tech billionaires have gone so far as to secretly recruit scientists to solve this problem, hoping to get us out of this simulation."
Friend didn’t mention the names of the billionaires, but it’s pretty obvious that one of them is Elon Musk, an eccentric technological genius who has already alarmed the public this year by stating that he is seriously considering the possibility that our world is just a simulation. …
Musk then explained his idea using the example of modern technologies - already now many technologies are becoming practically indistinguishable from the real world. For example, he took the classic table tennis game "Pong", which in recent years has evolved into a game that uses virtual and augmented reality. According to Musk, if you generally admit the possibility of further improving these technologies, then it is obvious that after a while the games will become completely indistinguishable from reality.
The fact that we already live in some kind of virtual reality is not only thought of by billionaires from Silicon Valley - in September of this year, Bank of America analysts shared their research, according to which the chance that around us is not the real world, but an artificial simulation, is, according to various estimates, from 20 to 50%. That is, even with the most optimistic analysis, the probability is still very high.
True, Bank of America analysts are confident that even if there is a simulation around us, we still cannot find out. But according to Ted Frank, at least 2 billionaires disagree with them and are trying to discover the "real" reality.
