Such a mysterious phrase can be found in Russian folk tales, epics. For example, this is how the inhabitants of the distant kingdom, where he came in search of happiness, address Ivan Tsarevich: "Goy thou, good fellow!"
It is customary for us to perceive such an expression as some kind of kind greeting, and we don’t think about what these words “goy” and “are” are, what is the meaning in them and in the combination of this mysterious pair.
It turns out that the word "goy" has roots in the Old Slavic language and comes from the "word" gojiti, that is - to live, the word "is" is just an old form of the current verb "to be". And the combination itself can be literally expressed: "you live" or "how you live". If we draw an analogy with today's greetings, then this is the same as "hello." The word "hello" is borrowed from the Old Slavonic language, but, as it turned out, in Old Russian there was an analogue of such a greeting (wishes to welcome you for many years), and this analogue is "goy thou."
We do not offer you to use it in everyday life, even if you now know the meaning of this expression, and you really like it, because many simply will not understand you or will consider you as some kind of “unrecognized original”.
And yet, in the circle of close people, connoisseurs of primordial Russian roots, you can sometimes apply this greeting, especially since the words we say are not just sounds - they are the energy of exchange between people. Presumably, the expression "goy you" is very strong energetically, much more powerful than the word "hello", especially when you consider that the usual greeting we often pronounce in abbreviated form - "hello", not even realizing how much we rob our energetic "communication" with relatives, friends, acquaintances …
