From the late fifteenth century to the mid-eighteenth century, the Inquisition countries of Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and the rest of Europe were witch hunts. Hundreds of thousands of innocent women and men were tortured to death or burned at the stake of the Inquisition. What is the reason for this obscurantism? Why did people, like crazy people, have been destroying for almost six centuries, and even now they are destroying their own kind only because of dissimilarity, dissent and any deviations from the notions of the human norm established in the Middle Ages? Was there actually witchcraft or was it a fiction of church officials?
It all began in December 1484 with the publication of the Vedic bull "Summis desiderantes affectibus" (translated from Latin - "The greatest desire of the soul"), the author of which was Pope Innocent VIII. The publication called for the destruction of heresy, apostasy and witchcraft in the Rhineland, in fact, officially recognizing the existence of magicians and witches. With its approval, the papal bull completely untied the hands of the inquisitors, approving the persecution of dissidents and allowing the use of all kinds of torture methods.
In addition, in 1486 in Germany, two inquisitorial monks Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger wrote the book The Hammer of the Witches, containing instructions on how to recognize a witch. This work contained precise instructions and guidelines for action for the Inquisition, seeking by any means to implement the biblical saying "do not let the sorcerers live."
In the thirteenth century, people worshiped ancient pagan gods, and were not ready to convert to the Christian faith overnight. The theologians of the Pope declared the natural gods, in whom the pagans believed, terrible demons, and in their sermons in the church inspired the flock with disgust for them, giving the name of such servility idolatry. In opposition to this, at the beginning of the thirteenth century, sects with different religiosity began to appear in the regions of Western Europe, calling into question the religious dogmas of the Catholic faith.
Such movements unexpectedly for the papal church received large-scale support of the people, for example, the reform movements of the Cathars and Waldenses. These Western religious movements appealed to the old ideals of nascent early Christianity and advocated the abolition of private property. Their ideal was apostolic poverty and selfless mutual assistance. The preachers of this movement condemned the acquisitiveness and immorality of bishops and church officials. The Pope and the bishops of the Catholic Church did not care what the minds of the people were, however, they did not collect their power, the seized territories and monetary contributions of the flock, so they began a fierce struggle for power.
However, witchcraft and magic were never eradicated. Today, in the twenty-first century, in parallel with the development of the world IT-civilization and modern nanotechnology, sorcery is flourishing with renewed vigor, and people's faith in the existence of witchcraft powers of sorcerers, witches and magicians is growing. It turned out that magic is not a relic of the past, but the reality of our time. None of his contemporaries dispute the magical power of Anatoly Kashpirovsky or the healing power of Dzhuna Davitashvili, and in scientific circles they just shrug their shoulders. Such superpowers are not yet amenable to scientific study.
Take, for example, the capital of Russia, five thousand witchcraft and magic salons are officially registered in Moscow today, and if we add here countless more witches and sorcerers acting alone and illegally, as well as psychics, healers, grandmothers whispering and others non-traditional healers, it turns out there are a great many of them.
Possessors of supernatural powers and sorcerous abilities really existed at all times, but they were exceptional rarity. In Soviet times, for example, in the entire vast territory, there were only fifteen strong sorcerers with real powerful abilities and only about five hundred average strength, who were not so impressed by the KGB.

Since ancient times, it was to such special people that people went for healing from a sudden unknown ailment, in case of death or loss of livestock, drought, spouse's infidelity, and even for a favorable birth or the outcome of the case. It began back in those distant times, when human knowledge was still not enough to solve a number of everyday problems, and it crept deep into the subcortex of human consciousness almost at the genetic level. Since ancient times, people subconsciously treat witches and sorcerers with reverence and primal fear.
Today, medieval witchcraft are called alternative thinking and free thinking. Man is used to considering himself the crown of nature's creation. But even in the modern, developed age of telecommunications, he is powerless against the magical real-life force that does not obey logical thinking and facts that cannot be explained by the physical laws of nature. Witches and sorcerers can pose a real danger to modern society.
An important skill of persons engaged in magical rituals is visualization. The Vedas easily imagine what is strongly desired by another person. Sorcerers, endowed with magical potential by nature, are able to freely apply and change their life force. They "attach" the thought-form to the chosen object, exerting a perfect magical effect on it. In this case, the impact on the explicit and vital forces occurs, as it were, "behind the scenes" of witchcraft consciousness, however, for example, as well as control over the work of internal organs or control of one's limbs.
There are people who do not have magical literacy, but have a high innate potential. They know how to exert a strong influence without even thinking about a special influence on their environment. The witchcraft of powerful people happens unintentionally. Over time, they even create their own method of divination. Such personalities include presidents, marshals, legendary eminent and talented persons.
