Mike Orram from London recalled “When I was young - very young, maybe I was only a few months old, I remember thinking the world was a very strange place. It was full of people - adults who did stupid things. I understood them. I felt more sane than them. I was more conscious than I should have been. I felt like an adult, walled up in the body of a child. It was then that I first realized that the earth is not a real home."
This feeling - the awareness of oneself as an adult in the body of a baby is not so rare. It is described by about 10% of those who claim very early memories.
Juliet from the small town of Lancashire recalls an experience that happened to her when she was only a few months old. Strange lights came to her - to play. It seems that they opened her mind to new levels of perception, and she felt as if her childhood and body were just an annoying hindrance, and she herself could do what children of her age did not. Adults began to say that “on your shoulders! girls are the head of an adult woman. It seemed as if she had grown up a long time ago, only the body was late, and it took time for it to catch up with the mind.
According to the traditional view of brain development, these stories have no meaning and cannot exist at all. The age of the body and mind must match. But what about the soul? Perhaps our eternal essence contains what survives after death. Perhaps it is capable of surviving birth? Maybe we are born with a developed consciousness that sleeps deep inside, and the consciousness of this life fills all the rest of the available space?
Through the Eyes of a Child
When Nicole Perth of Keigley, West Yorkshire was presented with a toy dog on her second birthday, a series of extraordinary events began. The girl announced that she would name the dog Muff - "like the dog that I had." But she had never had a dog before - a willow or a toy.
But Nicole knew otherwise. She wanted her mother to explain why Nicole was born a girl and not a boy, "like last time," and amazed the whole family with the story of the time when "Mrs Benson was mother." She told a lot - all the father always came home dirty because he worked on the railroad, they lived in a stone house in Haworth, and the child skipped because he was hit by a locomotive. The memory of death was so vivid that Nicole, seeing on TV a steam locomotive and a man falling from a bridge, screamed in fear.
After a while, the family took her to Haworth, a place just a few miles from her hometown, but she had never been there before. Nicole wanted to know why she was born a girl and not a boy, "like last time."
On the way, they got lost, but Nicole led them straight to the very old stone house that she told about.
The researchers found that the girl's stories were true. The Benson family did exist, and the father of the family worked on the railroad. Their son, born in 1875, died while still young, but the cause of death was not indicated anywhere. It seems like Nicole did recall her past life a hundred years ago, and the memories were completely natural.
Nicole is not the only example. Quite often, children between the ages of three and eight begin to spontaneously recall past lives, and this happens more often than one might think.
Little Elspeth of Teenside suddenly began talking about her life as a nun. The girl was not even two years old at that time. Elspeth accurately described her clothes, the monastery, talked about her daily activities and her fellow nuns. The girl's family was frightened.
By the age of four, she remembered her death and described it in amazing detail. She said that she was praying and suddenly fell and everything around was clouded with darkness. When she woke up, she found herself surrounded by previously deceased nuns who greet her.
