Impending disaster
The former chief technology officer in the Israeli government in a recent interview spoke about his fears that artificial intelligence could potentially lead to a more dire tragedy than the terrorist attack in the United States on September 11, 2001.
The more spheres of public life will come under the control of artificial intelligence, the more leverage people will get who will be able to take control of it.
Eerie warning
During an interview with the Jerusalem Post, Meltzer put forward the daunting speculation that in an increasingly high-tech and automated future, terrorists will be able to hack into millions of cars in order to cause a one-time car crash that will result in countless casualties.
He also outlined the theoretical possibility of the military conducting psychological operations that could bring down the economies of countries or lead to riots.

Sad consequences
According to Meltzer, the arms race in artificial intelligence between the United States, China, Russia and Israel means that the technical capabilities of artificial intelligence are increasing so quickly that they outstrip the development of civil liberties and the ability of society to foresee dangerous consequences.
And, nevertheless, he expressed the hope that the governments of these countries will have enough wisdom to use the capabilities of artificial intelligence for good purposes.
