That unknown that exists in our world, and with which humanity regularly encounters, excites inquisitive minds for thousands of years. People try to find a logical explanation for certain phenomena, but from the point of view of science, this most often fails. Something tells me (I in no way claim to be the ultimate truth - this is just my humble opinion) that now things that are usually called strange happen at least as often as several centuries or millennia ago. It's just that people try not to talk about what happened to them, fearing condemnation from a rational society to the core. And in some ways this situation even amuses me - it turns out that people manage to combine in themselves what is in general incompatible. Belief in intelligent life existing somewhere in the Universe, and complete disbelief in the subtle world living side by side with us on the same planet. But the first looks … more solid, or something. Still, scientists are calculating, weighing and measuring something, and even their most insane hypothesis looks more significant than the words of Baba Masha from the next house that every night someone turns on the light in her kitchen. It is much easier to write off the words of a woman for senile insanity and clouding of mind - they say, she forgot to turn it off. But at the same time, no one takes into account that the hypothetical woman Masha has five diplomas in technical higher, and in general she will give odds to many young people in terms of health.that every night someone turns on the light in her kitchen. And the words of Baba Masha, like thousands of others before her, spread between “her own”, acquiring, as usual, non-existent details, and turn into legends. They could not have been taken into account at all, if not for a strange feature - the details of these legends coincide in the legends of different countries, sometimes telling about the same thing. And how to treat them? Assuming that several travelers, having previously agreed among themselves, dispersed around the world and sowed the seeds of mysticism in the soils of different peoples? Or, to put logic aside a little, and admit that today's man knows and understands far from everything that happens in this world, and the legends - even a small part of them - have quite real ground?

Illegal tenant

It is impossible to count how many countries there are to this day legends about beautiful women dressed in luxurious green dresses. Whoever they are not considered! Beauties in different periods of time were vampires, kidnappers, and cannibals. Apparently, presenting them as very attractive persons, people tried to convey to each other that even behind the most charming appearance there can be a fair amount of byaka. And in our days no, no, and there will be a mention of the meeting with the "emerald maidens." But against the background of an esoteric boom and a surge of charlatans' activity, they do not arouse any interest, and, as it seems to me, in vain. If it was possible to compare and analyze the cases of the appearance of women in green, then, perhaps, one riddle would be less.

One of the events associated with this lady took place several years ago in Krasnoyarsk. A common situation: a young girl moves out from her parents to a rented apartment. She did not even think about the fact that housing can be “good” and “bad”: a chic furnished “stalinka” in the center, very close to work, and even for ridiculous money - what can you think about? But an explanation for the low cost was found pretty soon. Being alone, the girl constantly caught herself thinking that someone was in the apartment, and one fine day she noticed that in the corner of her room there was a woman in a long green dress and could not get out of it. Sleep? Illusion? Overwork? There was no question of any mental illness, but as soon as the girl was alone, the “green lady” immediately appeared in “her” corner and asked to come closer with signs. When the heroine nevertheless decided on this madness, instead of the lady's face, she saw an unnaturally distorted mask - and no longer dared to renew the lease of the "Stalin".

In France, it is believed that women in green are the spirits that once lived in sacred oak forests. Places saturated with druidic magic have retained the images of spirits, and, attached to the already non-existent groves, they cannot find peace. But it is believed that these spirits still live in centuries-old trees. True, every day there are fewer of them. There is a sign: if you decorate such a tree with wreaths woven from the branches of mistletoe or honeysuckle on a festive day, then the keepers will send the donor well-being and good luck. The opposite situation will arise if you break branches on a tree, or, God forbid, cut down the abode of the “green woman”.

The Scots have always considered the heroine of this article a forest fairy. But in their view, she was very far from modern Disney creatures in terms of kindness and humanity. The fairy often made her way into the house, and changed a newborn human baby for her offspring, who, by the way, did not have a calm character and moderate appetite. The fairy child yelled at all voices, and demanded a burst of food, and not breast milk, like any decent newborn, but ordinary, adult food. By trial and error, it was found that if such a child is treated as badly as possible (hello to juvenile justice), then the mother will return for him and carry out a reverse exchange. The second method involved a humorous concert on request: the glutton had to be made to laugh until colic, or outwitted, thereby forcing him to name his real age. Another “good” Scottish legend says that green fairies did not steal children, but rubbed them with their own blood. Not feeling warm feelings in relation to the human race, and unable to cope with its adult representatives, the fairies tormented children, rewarding them with incurable diseases. It is much easier to blame your own powerlessness and complete lack of medicine, as well as the resulting high infant mortality rate, on the tricks of forest spirits.

Woman's personality in green

Esotericists nevertheless became interested in these persons - there are too many references to them to just pass by. Most of the researchers who have studied ancient myths and legends are of the opinion that these are really dryads who were left without a home. Christians cut down the sacred groves, and the keepers were forced to leave their habitats, doomed to endless wandering between the worlds. The spirits, distraught from this way of life, are now saturated not with reverence, but with hatred, with all the ensuing consequences.

Who knows, maybe in the place of the ill-fated Krasnoyarsk “stalinka” the sacred grove, kept by the banks, once rustled. One of them could easily get stuck at a certain point, and, without wanting to (although who knows), scared away all the guests. The only thing that esotericists can advise to insure themselves against such meetings is respect for the forest, and then even a wild dryad will not cause any harm, rather, on the contrary: the spirit will treat favorably the one who reveres the forest and cares for the plants.

As the classic said - a fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it. Most of the legends carry one or another semantic load. Anticipating skepticism, I will say: legends about women in green, it seems to me, have a close connection with how a person relates to nature. Cut down the forest? Get a Raging Dryad. Who knows, maybe such legends really belong to a group of sagacious travelers who guess what the destruction of forests leads to and who want to preserve at least some of them for posterity? The only pity is that the modern world does not believe in God or in devil, and the legend of an angry evil spirits will not frighten him in the least.
