Something tells me (I in no way claim to be the ultimate truth - this is just my humble opinion) that now things that are usually called strange happen at least as often as several centuries or millennia ago. It's just that people try not to talk about what happened to them, fearing condemnation from a rational society to the core. And in some ways this situation even amuses me - it turns out that people manage to combine in themselves what is in general incompatible. Belief in intelligent life existing somewhere in the Universe,and complete disbelief in the subtle world living side by side with us on the same planet. But the first looks … more solid, or something. They could not have been taken into account at all, if not for a strange feature - the details of these legends coincide in the legends of different countries, sometimes telling about the same thing. And how to treat them? Assuming that several travelers, having previously agreed among themselves, dispersed around the world and sowed the seeds of mysticism in the soils of different peoples? Or, to put logic aside a little, and admit that today's man knows and understands far from everything that happens in this world, and the legends - even a small part of them - have quite real ground?

Apparently, presenting them as very attractive persons, people tried to convey to each other that even behind the most charming appearance there can be a fair amount of byaka. And in our days no, no, and there will be a mention of the meeting with the "emerald maidens." But against the background of an esoteric boom and a surge of charlatans' activity, they do not arouse any interest, and, as it seems to me, in vain. If it was possible to compare and analyze the cases of the appearance of women in green, then, perhaps, one riddle would be less.

Not feeling warm feelings in relation to the human race, and unable to cope with its adult representatives, the fairies tormented children, rewarding them with incurable diseases. It is much easier to blame your own powerlessness and complete lack of medicine, as well as the resulting high infant mortality rate, on the tricks of forest spirits.

Most of the researchers who have studied ancient myths and legends are of the opinion that these are really dryads who were left without a home. The only thing that esotericists can advise to insure themselves against such meetings is respect for the forest, and then even a wild dryad will not cause any harm, rather, on the contrary: the spirit will treat favorably the one who reveres the forest and cares for the plants.

Who knows, maybe such legends really belong to a group of sagacious travelers who guess what the destruction of forests leads to and who want to preserve at least some of them for posterity? The only pity is that the modern world does not believe in God or in devil, and the legend of an angry evil spirits will not frighten him in the least.
