Archaeologists working on a mound in the Rostov region have made a number of unique finds. The burial mound has preserved sacrifice and burial sites for a number of archaeological cultures. The oldest - six thousand years old - were the burials of children. They belong to the Eneolithic and Early Bronze Age. For comparison, the Egyptian pyramids appeared a thousand years after the creation of this children's necropolis.

One adult was buried together with the children in the necropolis. There are about ten graves - this is a rare case of concentration of burials in one mound. Archaeologist Yuri Guguev believes that this may indicate both a high infant mortality rate in the Bronze Age, and a special attitude towards the death of a child.

The second sensational find was the "witch" - a young Sarmatian woman, buried in a strange, unusual pose. She was lying prone, with her arms bent, while her right hand lay under her skull. The right leg was bent under the pelvis and chest, and the left leg was extended. In general, the posture is typical for a person who tries to stand, leaning on his hands and knee. At the same time, the girl was buried without any things, which is not typical for such graves. Archaeologist Yuri Guguev explains that the woman did not receive the required funeral rite, as she was "impaired in her rights." They buried people whom they did not want to see reborn again. Perhaps the woman was known among her compatriots as a witch. The second option is that she died an unnatural death.

The finds will be transferred to Rostov anthropologists and osteologists. The objects found in the mound can be seen in the Tanais archaeological museum-reserve. On the maps of the 19th century, the mound was called Figurin. Its diameter is 80 meters, height - five meters, RIA Novosti specifies. The excavation was ordered by the Avtodor company.
