And they found out the age of the stars, near which intelligent civilizations can exist

Terrestrial life, according to scientists, in the Milky Way most likely originates on the outskirts of the galactic disk near stars that are younger than the Sun. And since they are all very remote from Earth, the search for aliens has not yet been crowned with success. Simulations have shown that the age of stars that can support life in their surroundings is estimated at three billion years. These luminaries are located at a distance of about 16 kiloparsecs from the galactic center.

Such conclusions were made by a group of astronomers from Serbia, Austria and France. They published their research on the website arXiv.org.

The researchers also concluded that less than one percent of life-sustaining luminaries are located at a distance of 8-10 kiloparsecs. For comparison, the age of the Sun is estimated at 4.6 billion years, and its distance to the center of the Galaxy is 8.5 kiloparsecs.

Note that the theory that life can originate on the outskirts of the Milky Way, since supernova explosions occur too often in the central part, is quite popular among modern astrophysicists. According to this statement, life on Earth could have originated due to the fact that our planet is far from gamma-ray bursts.

In the course of other studies, not directly connected with the SETI project, scientists, including, found out that aliens can mask their planets from the inhabitants of the Earth using a laser installation. Some other specialists presented a theory explaining why life on other planets may not exist - it probably disappeared on them, without having had time to "gain a foothold", even if it did arise.
