Of course, all these cases could be explained either by ordinary mirages, which, as you know, are not so rare in nature, or by public hallucinations, or, in extreme cases, by hoaxes. But how then to explain the word "CHOW" written in bold letters, which appeared in the sky before the eyes of K. E. Tsiolkovsky? After all, it is quite difficult to suppose that the materialist Tsiolkovsky would have gone to deceive.
So, it is hardly worth attributing this phenomenon, like many other incomprehensible phenomena, to the disturbed imagination of people, illusions, hallucinations or interpretation bias. With this approach, almost any unexplained phenomenon can be attributed to the paradoxes of the psyche and thereby dismiss it. And this is unlikely to be able to serve progress.
