Only after the same information was received from various people, the heads of the city decided to tackle this phenomenon.
Dozens of people independently said that when they tried to get close to him, the creature was hiding in the waves. As the Daily mail notes, a real mermaid hunt has taken place on the coast of the resort town. The beaches of Kiryat Yama are flooded with locals and tourists with cameras and nets.
“It is not very clear who exactly those who are telling us saw, but these messages deserve to be taken seriously,” says the Kiryat Yama municipality.
Kiryat Yam is skeptical about the sensational reports, but it is believed that if the information about the appearance of the mermaid is confirmed, it will turn the city into an extremely attractive tourist destination.
“At the first stage, we must make sure that we are talking about truthful information, and that is why we are offering such a large award to anyone who presents evidence,” the municipality explains.
“If suddenly this turns out to be true, then the influx of tourists will more than cover a million dollars,” the city council says.
