Video: Mystery of spinning 'cursed' Egyptian statue is solved at Manchester Museum 2024, May

Several months ago, reports appeared in the Western press that a 4,000-year-old artifact had suddenly acquired the ability to move. However, the expert recently disappointed fans of the paranormal by solving the mystery of the figurine.

As previously reported on FedrealPost, the curators of the Manchester Museum noticed that the 25-centimeter figurine, which serves as a vessel for the soul of an ancient Egyptian, suddenly began to move.

Since the 4000-year-old artifact was in a glass case, the version with the antics of museum visitors was not even considered.

To prove the sculpture's ability, curator Price Campbell even filmed the object's movements. Indeed, while viewing the recording, you can see how the statuette rotates 180 degrees.

The news about the "living" exhibit instantly became a sensation and attracted the attention of fans of the paranormal. However, physics professor Brian Cox suggested that the whole "miracle" lies in the vibration arising from the movement of visitors. But Campbell rejected his version, stating that other objects remain motionless and the reason should be sought in the mystical essence of the "soul store".

The curator's remarks prompted expert Steve Goslin to conduct a 24-hour test, the results of which confirmed Cox's version and explained why the rest of the exhibits remained in place.

According to the Daily Mail, the expert installed a sensor under the wall cabinet with the statuette to detect any vibrations. At 6 p.m., when the experiment began, Goslin discovered that there was a peak in movement, and, as a result, vibrations, causing the object to rotate. During the night, traffic and visitors stopped moving, and the artifact also stopped moving. At 7 am, the vibrations caused by people and cars resumed, which brought the subject to life.

“These vibrations are a combination of several sources of vibration: moving buses, walking people. The combination of all these movements led to the movement of the statue and generated ridiculous rumors,”explained Goslin.

When asked why the other exhibits did not rotate, he replied: "This artifact has an arched base, and the vault in the lower part makes it particularly susceptible to vibration, unlike exhibits with a flat base."
