From the side that is directed towards the center of the "Mystic Zone", the trees do not grow branches. Sequoia, with typically transverse, graceful branches that only grow to one side.

In a small place in North America, in the middle of nature, you can really feel that there are things that go beyond our usual knowledge

On a sightseeing trip south of San Francisco, friends took me to a place called the "Mystic Zone" with the words, "You must see this, you must experience this." I trust them, and on a sunny October day we turned down an unusually bumpy road into the forest and landed in an almost empty parking lot in front of a huge wooden gate, the entrance to the "Mystic Zone"

150 feet is about 46 m in diameter, should be the size of a mysterious area that we can survey for $ 5 each. Of course, inspection is possible only with a guide, who begins his excursion when a group of 6 people or more will gather. Americans can probably understand his quick explanations, I only understand fragments, but what I see and feel is impressive enough to surprise me. First, we have to climb a mountain slope, which seems easy to overcome, but in reality, with each step it becomes more difficult to overcome.

In the middle of the road, I walk bravely towards the skewed house on the slope, and soon I find myself clinging to the safety railing as my head feels the extra spin. Some unusual force, which I no longer dare to call gravity, must be overcome during this short adventurous climb. The mumbling guide warned us, but I certainly didn't believe him, because compared to traveling in the Alps, it looks like a small walk here. The last steps I pull myself up against the railing.

Animals avoid the "Mystic Zone"

Birds do not fly in this place, not to mention hearing their chirping, other animals also stay away, and sequoias in this place grow their branches, usually growing in all directions, only in one direction. I must gradually admit that, obviously, different laws prevail here than usual. The question with my balance remained a touchy one for me, until we crossed the wooden house, in which the pendulum deflects twice more in one direction than in the other, and where people easily climbed up the small slats, and all other surprises were demonstrated. Deception or mystery?

Countless instrumental scientists and hobbyists have approached these mysteries and have failed to provide any convincing explanation. Some visitors laugh and explain it all as an illusion, others come over and over again, and many, many simply leave as if nothing had happened except for a successful 45-minute entertaining performance. Science fiction in reality?

By the end of our journey, when it seems that here all our ideas about the visible and invisible and other mysteries can be broken, on one horizontal strip in concrete, from a change of place, people seem to be smaller or larger. And this works both for the observers and for the participants themselves. Everyone is laughing, the dizziness has stopped, the experiment has been done, cameras are buzzing, cameras clicking … an ideal illusion or a look into other spaces? The Mystical Zone makes this possible.

… to appear larger or smaller. This is noticeable both for observers and for the participants themselves.
