The Ukrainian media have recently reported that the Chupacabra was identified by veterinarians from the laboratory of Zaporozhye National University. Like, this is none other than the Caucasian jackal.
But this is the first time they hear about this examination and even more its results at the hunting department. Laboratory specialists assured that they know about the strange beast only from the news of the Internet, and none of them saw it in their eyes.
- Judging by the photographs, the similarity to the jackal is only in size. But their muzzles are completely different. The wounded animal has a very wide nose, but the jackal opposite has a narrow and elongated one,”said Alexander Korotya, director of the Zoological Museum of Zaporizhzhya National University. - I am of the opinion that this beast is either a mutant or a hybrid. But clearly not a separate species.
The same opinion is shared by the Mikhailovsky Administration of Veterinary Medicine. “We have consulted both with colleagues and with hunters, no one can unequivocally determine the type of animal shot,” says the deputy head of the veterinary medicine department, Yuri Ilchenko.

By the way, in the regional society of hunters and fishermen they said that jackals first appeared here 5-6 years ago. They came from Crimea, Odessa or Kherson. Most likely they migrated there from the Caucasus.
