Scientists from the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory (Serbia) spoke about the activities of extraterrestrial civilizations, the manifestations of which humanity could detect today. The research preprint is published on the arXiv.org website.
In their work, astronomers tried to list the ways that alien civilizations can use to protect against global cosmic threats, in particular, supernova explosions and gamma-ray bursts. Inhabitants of other worlds, according to researchers, for this, within their own planetary system, can place various astroengineering structures.
They will reduce the risks associated with the negative impact of ionizing and intense electromagnetic radiation and, most likely, will resemble objects like the Dyson sphere.
The sphere got its name in honor of the American theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson and, according to the author's idea, can be created by a highly developed civilization to accumulate the energy of its star. If a person created such an object, then the radius of the sphere could be equal to one astronomical unit.
