The topic of the approaching shift of magnetic, perhaps even geographic, poles has been discussed for at least about a hundred years. The first alarming calls came in the early 1930s from Soviet polar explorers, who drew attention to how far the ice border began to move in summer, which did not at all correspond to the maps drawn up during the days of sailing ships.

Over the next decades, events developed and a sharp acceleration of the movement of the North Magnetic Pole was added to the anomalies of the north, which today is no longer in academic smoking rooms, but is quite officially seen as a harbinger of the events of Lashamp and Mono Lake, which took place 41,000 years ago and 34,000 years ago, respectively. when the magnetic field changes its polarity radically. But when will this happen?

The main instrument that geologists are trying to measure and predict on this basis is paleomagnetology - the study of the magnetic field in lava crystals formed at different times. Lava in them solidifies, like insects in amber, forever fixing the direction and strength of the magnetic field in a given period. However, there are two big problems with this tool.

Firstly, the dating of certain layers raises reasonable doubts among more and more people, since in the rocks, which are tens of millions of years old, from time to time find some kind of wheels from a cart, then some kind of ancient hammers.

For example, this wheel is like 60 million years old:

And this hammer is like 400 million years old:

The second problem of paleomagnetology is a very large scale of observations and it is impossible to consider something there in the range of hundreds of years, even if the dubious official chronology is considered correct. Meanwhile, it is important to know the behavior of the magnetic field in the range of "tomorrow-the day after tomorrow" and everybody is absolutely concerned about what will be there in 1000 years.

On July 6, 2020, a study of this whole problem was published in the scientific journal Nature Communications, the authors of which were interviewed by watchers.news, since there are many letters and pictures in Nature Communications, but nothing is clear. Therefore, to correct their terrible mistake, Dr. Chris Davis of the University of Leeds and Catherine Constable of the Institute of Oceanography. Scripps, CA, San Diego, explained their discovery to watchers.news readers on their fingers.

The essence of the study boils down to the fact that its authors created a special computer program that simulates the behavior of a magnetic field based on modern theoretical views and hammered into it the data on magnetic field jumps known from paleomagnetology over the past 100,000 years. And after that, with the help of this program, they began to consider everything in a more or less optimal chronological approximation.

As you might expect, the global magnetic field excursion begins with the emergence of some kind of “additional poles” at mid-latitudes, such as the South Atlantic Anomaly, which now extends from Chile to Zimbabwe.

Then the magnetic North Pole begins to migrate, one fine day reaching a speed of movement of 1 degree per year - which we are seeing now. But, one fine day, this already considerable speed increases by 10, approximately times - that is, the field jumps by 10 degrees a year. And after that EVERYTHING comes - that is, an excursion of the magnetic field by 180 degrees, which will end with no one knows what.

Thus, the most interesting discovery of scientists is the fact that now the first thing to look at is not the shifts of the North Pole, but the dipole of the South Atlantic anomaly, which is being formed with terrible force.

Computer modeling has shown that new “poles” at low latitudes are decisive. The study leader puts it this way:

“Computer analysis shows that the fastest changes in the direction of the magnetic field are associated with the movement of spots of reverse metal flow over the surface of the liquid core. These spots are more common at lower latitudes, suggesting that future searches for rapid changes in direction should focus on these areas.”

In other words, this new dipole now needs to be constantly watched, since the iron in the core below it is now moving in the wrong direction and the displacement of the magnetic poles may even be secondary. Therefore, as soon as the dipole of the South Atlantic anomaly is finally formed, the North Magnetic Pole will accelerate up to 10 degrees per year immediately after it, after which a complete excursion of the Earth's magnetic field will take place within a year or several, so we follow the development of events.
