There are many stories about the miracles performed by the famous Odessa priest Father Jonah. One way or another, someone knows who this amazing person helped or at least heard about his amazing miracles.
I will tell a story that I know from my mother. I was a teenager at the time, and things like religion were of little interest to me, and naturally, I scoffed at such facts.
With age, I became a little wiser, and realized that not everything in this world can be measured by my own cynicism, so I returned to talking with my mother again. And she told me one very interesting story that happened to our neighbor.
We moved to a new house in 1987. My father got an apartment in it because his old house of pre-revolutionary construction stood on this place. The new nine-story building was positioned as a house for officials and senior officers. And naturally, every day new tenants moved into the apartments, who were brought in on the black or white Volga. The house was settled slowly, and our family was one of the first there. The house was very nice at the time and our family was very happy. I was then thirteen years old
When the house was about half inhabited, a flood happened in Odessa. Alas, it was a man-made disaster. The stormwater drainage was not able to cope with the strongest rainfall and this area of the city was heavily flooded. It was rumored that then even several people died. But that's not what we're talking about.
Immediately after the flood, victims began to be brought into the house, among them there were many gypsies. Naturally, this did not suit tough tenants at all, but one of the officials said that it would be a temporary measure. As a result, the Roma moved out within a year, but several families left. Our neighbor was among them. The woman was very pious, and despite the presence of two daughters, she left several times to somewhere in the north of the USSR, where she wanted to get a haircut as a nun. But the priests of that Soviet temper sent her home and strictly instructed her not to leave the children.
So she told her mother her story. It turns out when the flood happened her house was completely destroyed. She and her daughters were placed in a nearby school. Of course it was a tragedy and she went to the monastery for advice from the priest Jonah. After telling him her story, she asked for help and advice. To which Jonah went out of his cell and brought her an envelope, which he allowed to open only at home.
It turned out that there was a maple leaf in the envelope. Of course, the neighbor could not understand the meaning of this message and again went to the monastery. Jonah was angry, but accepted the restless woman. And this time he gave her another envelope and told her to open it where she lived then, that is, at school. And again there was a viburnum leaf in the envelope.

But just a few days later, the unfortunate woman received a warrant for an excellent apartment in a new house. But the point is that the address of the new house was on Klenovaya Street.
