In 1970, a woman bought an antique, worn-out doll named Anne Doll from a sundry shop. The doll was intended as a birthday present for her daughter Donna. Donna was a college student at the time and was preparing to graduate as a medical professional. Lived in a tiny apartment with my roommate Angie (also a nurse).
Donna was delighted with her mother's gift and placed the doll on her bed as a decoration. Later, Donna and Angie began to notice that strange events began to occur with the doll. Moving of the doll was noticed first. Sometimes the doll would sit on the couch with arms and legs crossed, other times they would find her standing by the table or in the middle of the room. Several times Donna put the doll on the couch, and upon returning home she found it on her bed in a locked room.

Annabelle's doll could not only move, she also had the ability to leave notes. Within a month, Donna and Angie began to find messages written in pencil on parchment paper. They said: "Help us" and "Help Lou." The typeface looked like the uncertain handwriting of a small child. Lou was a friend of Donna and Angie and had been in constant contact with them since the doll appeared in their apartment. Lou didn't like the doll from the very beginning, and often asked Donna to get rid of it, because felt something awful coming from Annabelle. Donna had a compassionate bond with the doll and Lou had to put up with the doll's presence. But Donna's decision was a terrible mistake.
Lou woke up the night from a nightmare. But the awakening was unusual for him, he felt that he was awake, but could not move. Looking around the room, Lou saw Annabelle approaching him. She slowly slid over his legs, climbed onto his chest and began to choke him. Panting Lou passed out. Waking up in the morning, Lou was firmly convinced that the incident with him was not a dream. He was determined to get rid of the doll and the spirit in it. But Lou had another terrifying experience with Annabelle.
The next day, Angie and Lou looked at the maps and marked the routes before the planned trip. The depressing silence in the apartment was broken by sounds coming from Donna's room. It sounded like robbers who had sneaked into the apartment. Lou decided to check Donna's room. As he burst into the room and turned on the light, he noticed nothing unusual, except that Annabelle was thrown in the middle of the room.
Lou began searching the room for signs of burglary, but nothing strange caught his attention, nor did he leave the feeling of someone behind him. Turning abruptly, Lou felt pain in his chest and saw blinding flashes. His hands were covered with blood, and his shirt was open on his chest. One got the feeling that he was scratched with burning claws. There were 7 marks, three vertically and four horizontally. The most surprising thing about this incident is that the wounds began to heal almost instantly and completely disappeared after a couple of days.
Supernatural Investigation: The Warrens
After what happened to Lou, Donna began to believe that instead of a little girl, a demon spirit was imprisoned in a doll. She contacted the priest Father Hegan. The Holy Father, seeing how this difficult case was, turned to the Warrens.
Ed and Lorraine Warren immediately became interested in the case and contacted Donna regarding the doll. According to them, the spirits of the dead cannot enter houses, dolls or other objects. Only a non-human spirit is capable of such things, in other words, a demon. He manipulated the doll and created the appearance of a pre-existing girl.
According to the Warrens, the spirit hunted down the girls' emotional weaknesses. He fed on their energy, while constantly feigning his safety in the form of a small, unhappy girl. Since the demon is an evil spirit, the events in the form of a drop of blood on Annabelle and the attack on Lou were not long in coming. The Warrens explained that another 2-3 weeks of the demon's presence in their apartment could lead to tragic consequences.
Towards the end of the investigation, the Warrens received official church permission to exorcise the demon. “This is a seven-page document that is not based on exorcism, but on filling the environment with the power of God.” - Ed Warren. At Donna's request, Warren took the doll from their apartment.
According to Ed's stories, when he put the doll in the back seat of his car, inexplicable things began to happen on the road. The brakes did not always work, the steering wheel had to be twisted with triple force, the electronics in the car turned off. Frightened for his life, Ed stained the doll with a saint, only after that he safely got home.
The Warrens built a special protective cabinet in which they placed the doll. Since then, no more oddities associated with Annabelle have been noticed.
