Today, scientists are most interested in monumental tombs and other sites that point to a race of giants who used advanced technology. Testimonies of giants include the so-called Monte Prama, ancient stone sculptures created by the Nuragic civilization of Sardinia. Some of the giants were over three meters tall and weighed over 360 kg. They date back to the 8th century BC. This means that they predate Greek sculptures.
The largest tomb is called Coddu Vecchiu and dates back to 2000 BC. A carved stone entrance marks the trapezoidal burial chamber behind it. The entrance rock has a smaller semicircular doorway carved into the base, which is considered a symbolic passage for the spirits of the dead. The megalithic blocks of limestone and granite are huge, weighing tons and are meticulously assembled with stones individually carved into curved shapes. The Nuragic religion appears to have included many symbolic representations of fertility and included a cult of water that invoked various feminine aspects of the divine.
A circular opening in the ceiling allows sunlight and moonlight to enter. Inside the sanctuary, the walls are perfectly smooth, curved, and in some cases use interlocking shapes. While there is still no concrete evidence that giants roamed Sardinia, these ancient monuments are surprising. How the ancient people created these shrines using huge boulders is impossible to explain. All of this remains a mystery that challenges traditional ways of thinking.
