You never know? Damn, as you know, everyone is joking! Where does he do it? Except, as in our sinful souls, also in the Volgograd region, where a place called Devil's play is located.

Devil's play is a sand crater in the steppe. But do not rush to be disappointed - Devilish play is not just a hole in the ground, a pock on the face of planet Earth, but a place full of mysteries of both mystical and scientific nature.

The first mystery is the question of the origin of the game. Here is the steppe, the steppe, and then bang - and a strange crater that could not have formed in one of the classic natural ways (there is no relief, there were no reservoirs, presumably, there was once a river, Chertoleika, but this is just a legend).

On the other hand, the most suggestive version of a meteorite falling has already been refuted by scientists - no traces of a meteorite or even the smallest parts of it were found in the funnel. Still, it is difficult to immediately abandon this thought, since the general landscape looks cosmically - multi-colored sands, plants (among which there are purple and burgundy ones), and extraordinary stones with a “metallic” clatter. Despite the fact that with the advent of tourist masses in these places, there are fewer unusual pebbles, and now you can find areas of melted sand here, which allow you to ask a logical question: "Did the guys burn here?"

At this point, by the way, it is immediately worth discarding another possible version of the appearance of a crater - military or even space tests, since the Devil's play appeared long before such a progressive technology as archery. And the sands, although really unusual, multi-colored (orange, red of all shades, pink, there are more than 50 species in total, which is found, except for the Devil's Play, only in two places on the planet) also have a confirmed earthly origin.

However, the beauty of this area does not lose at all. Sand has two more interesting properties - if you thoroughly "rinse" your hands in it, they will sparkle for a while (this is absolutely safe, something like the effect of "shining powder"), and also, if you take a handful of sand of any color and leave it somewhere at home, then after a while you will see that its color has changed.

Also in it you can find earthly gifts - small precious or semi-precious stones (as anyone is lucky), if you dig well. And if you don't dig up anything, it doesn't matter either, because in the excavations you can see multi-colored layers of sand that mixes, shimmers and mesmerizes just meditatively.

The local flora is peculiar - small twisted trees that also look like alien gifts (or evidence of the presence of an anomalous zone). Due to the shape of the trees, the surroundings of the Devil's Play, by the way, are also called the Drunken Grove. But in fact, the explanation is simple - the soil here is pleasant to the human eye, but very scarce, the terrain is arid, and therefore lush crowns and slender oak trees cannot be here by default. So you can simply be satisfied with the explanation that, they say, here really "the devil played", and admire nature without any questions.

Still, there are questions, and many of them really want to get an answer. How did the crater appear? If it was a meteorite fall (and it could well be mistaken for the devil's unsuccessful experience in creating dirty tricks for humanity in the old days), then where did the traces go? Why is the needle of the compass, with the scanty chance of finding iron ore here, spinning like crazy?

Here I would like to assume that - what if! - an alien ship is kept under the multi-layer sand, specially marked with bright soil, so that later it would be easier to find. Why is the sand (here we meet with an obvious anomaly) in the crater … wet? In any weather, even when the rest of the steppe literally smokes from the heat. Why "birds don't sing here, trees don't grow"? That is, the trees are just growing, and it is all the more surprising that even the most seedy lizard cannot be found next to the Devil's Game.

However, this place does not have a depressing effect on people, unlike many other mysterious places - it is very interesting to see, and perhaps the amazing silence, coupled with the landscape in crimson tones, suggests that we are not alone in this Universe. Previously, fairs and holidays were held at the Devil's Game, so maybe this place is Devil's, but you don't need to be afraid of it.

Probably not necessary … There is one reason why the Devil's merrymaking is still afraid: here several times cases of ignition were recorded for an unknown reason, and in one of these cases spontaneous combustion occurred so quickly that a person who died as a result of the fire (it was a local shepherd) did not even have time to understand what had happened - the pose in which they found him testified that he did not try to do anything to bring down the flame, and even, most likely, simply did not feel the fire.

But such cases were only a few and definitely not enough to confirm that the risk of spontaneous combustion is more significant here than in any other place. Another place in which cases of spontaneous combustion were recorded - Medveditskaya Gora - is also partially located in the Volgograd region.
