The Aztecs believed that it also happens that an animal and a person have one soul "for two". As a rule, this happens when the soul after death for some time under the influence of burdened karma crumbles not into 7-10 or more pieces, but into two "uneven" ones. Then the greater part will incarnate in man, the lesser in the animal. Here, for example, is one of these stories that has already happened in our days.

When Arzushka was four years old, her father went to Moscow on business. And there he was visiting a former classmate. While undressing in the hallway, Arzu-Bolshoy heard the barking of a puppy - and a tiny Bull Terrier ran out of the room.

“His name is Chase, he's a month and a half,” said the owner.

Arzu remembered his daughter's request and announced that he was taking Chase.

- I bought you a puppy, he looks like a little pig, the same white, - he delighted his daughter on the phone.

But Arzushka interrupted him:

- I know, dad, I saw him yesterday in a dream.

When Chase was brought into the house, he sniffed all the corners, then jumped into Little Arzu's bed and put his head on the pillow. The mother demanded that "this infection" be immediately removed from the child's bed. Chase was rounded up, but he came back. The girl whimpered, "Leave my dog alone." I had to give in.

It all started when my mother decided to stay with her daughter. The baby flatly refused to leave Chase, who was already eight months old. But the mother was relentless.

Father and Chase stayed in Baku. For the weekend he decided to visit his mother in the village.

The delighted mother ordered to slaughter the ram. While they were skinning him, Chase ran around the yard. Tired, he began to rub against the legs of Fatma-khanum. “You must be hungry, poor thing,” she said, and crumbled a hot churek into a bowl of fresh mutton blood and threw in the still smoking entrails. She didn’t know that for a purebred dog such food was worse than poison …

Chase started dying within an hour. Father jumped into the car and rushed to Baku at full speed, Here he found a veterinarian who did everything he could. The puppy's death was postponed, but Chase was no longer a tenant - he barely moved, was thin, turned away from food. However, the worst was ahead. My wife called from Moscow. She said that the girl was admitted to the hospital, but the doctors could not yet diagnose. Lightning of a terrible guess pierced Arzu: he realized that his daughter was sick on the very day Chase was poisoned!

And Arzu-little at this time was lying on the bed under an IV and asked her mother to bring Chase. “I really need him,” the baby repeated, like a spell, but no one attached importance to her words.

So they both slowly died: Chase - in Baku, Arzu - in Moscow. Relatives of the capital raised the best doctors to their feet. But in vain. Arzushka refused to eat and was fading away. She was force-fed, injected with drugs and vitamins. But no one saw a direct connection between two mysterious diseases - dogs and girls, no one guessed that they could only overcome the disease together.

Chase died at half past six in the morning. Arzu buried him in a forest plantation and called his wife: “Do you know what happened?..” She replied: “I know. At half past five, Arzu woke up and said that Chase was dead."

After the death of a friend, the girl fell silent. The only words were “I don’t want to”. Father, abandoning everything, flew to Moscow. When he saw his daughter, he realized: we must do something today, otherwise it will be too late. Arzu, through his acquaintances, found Chase's sister ~ Chesna - and begged the owners to sell her. Chesna was like two drops of water similar to the deceased Chase. But when Arzu brought her to her daughter, she turned away: - Well, don't you understand, dad, this is just a dog, and I only need Chase …

In Baku, Arzu was just lying under a dropper. She developed dystrophy. Sometimes she called her father, started strange conversations with him:

- Dad, would you like Chase to come back?

The father replied that, they say, of course, he would like to, but that is impossible …

Fatma-khanum, who became the involuntary culprit of the misfortune, did not find a place for herself. She tirelessly fussed around her granddaughter, fed, bathed, caressed her. Arzushka seems to be on the mend. But on the very day that Chase was poisoned a year ago, there was a sharp deterioration. The medical professor, an old friend of the family, examined the girl and said quietly to her father:

- Get ready, she's leaving. There are only a few weeks left.

The mother could not stand the sight of her dying daughter, and once, when Arzu returned home, there was a note on the table: “Sorry, I can no longer see this. I'm leaving for my parents. Fatma-khanum said:

- Forgive her, son, and forget about her. I will help you.

In a matter of days, Arzu-big aged twenty years. A series of days dragged on: work, home, pharmacy, work, home, pharmacy. And just before the holiday of Novruz, exactly one year after Chase's death, returning home, he was dumbfounded. His girl, his Arzushka rushed to meet:

- Dad, how long have you not come, I already managed to get hungry!

They had dinner together. The girl was still weak, but she ate with appetite and chatted merrily. He looked at her and could not believe his eyes: Arzushka, only yesterday withdrawn and indifferent, was playing with a plush monkey. About twenty minutes later, the father felt that he was going crazy: the girl threw the toy into the corner, and it … came back, as if someone was carrying it.

Arzu decided that this was due to the strong nervous tension of the past days, since he was imagining the devil knows what. But that evening, after giving Arzushka a bath, grandmother wrapped her in a towel and handed her over to her father, while she herself began to wipe the floor. And then Arzu heard - no, not a sound, but rather a hint of sound. He looked around and felt his hair stand on end: on the dry linoleum, you could clearly see the wet prints of dog paws!

In the morning of the next day, the daughter - cheerful and flushed - happily hugged her father, rising from her bed. Holding the child close to him, Arzu could smell the faint smell of dog hair - the smell of Chase. Again he could not believe himself, although he could make out two dents on the pillow - from the head of the child and from the head of the puppy.

Things were getting better. Warm Baku spring came, Arzushka walked in the yard all day, came disheveled, smeared, but happy. Only the neighbors' children began to complain:

- Uncle Arzu, I just wanted to touch your daughter, but she will bite me! - and showed traces of teeth that the girl clearly could not leave. The father, already happy because his daughter recovered, ignored these oddities.

Once, having entered the kitchen, where his mother was preparing dinner, he saw Fatma-khanum standing at the stove and, lowering his hand, stroking the air, as if there was a dog's head there. Arzu called his mother, she turned sharply, and he realized that she knew everything.

The witch doctor from the village listened to Arzu-the big one and told him exactly what the ancient Aztecs said a century ago:

“Your daughter and her dog have one soul for two. They cannot live without each other. The girl was not listened to when she asked not to separate her from the puppy. And she only had enough strength for the dog to return invisible. Leave the child alone, your daughter has a rare gift: not everyone is given the power of love to return the deceased. The dog lives in your dog's age. And when he leaves completely, someone else will appear who will love your girl just as much.

One day his distant relative came to visit Arzu. And, of course, she wanted to look at the girl, although she was already asleep. A second later the guest flew out of the nursery with a cry:

- I just wanted to go to the bed, and someone will growl at me!

A few days later, the father himself looked into his daughter's room at night. The child slept peacefully. Suddenly Arzu felt: someone was looking at him from a dark corner.

“Chase, come to me, forgive me,” Arzu whispered and held out his hand. For a split second, his fingers touched the cold dog's nose, and then … the void became just empty.

Six months later, Arzu changed his apartment. The new neighbors had dogs: above - a lapdog, below - a shepherd, and there were plenty of mongrels in the quarter. And when Ar-zushka went out for a walk, all the four-legged scattered away from her, and sometimes barked loudly.

One evening, when the moon was full in the sky, Arzu and her daughter went out to air before bed. The girl ran and jumped, playing with the invisible Chase.
