In the past few years, one place has become especially revered in Moscow - the Intercession Monastery, which is located not far from Taganka. From early morning until late evening, people from all over Russia flock there in a continuous stream to worship the relics of the holy righteous Matrona.
Her remains were transported from the Danilovskoye cemetery almost ten years ago, and now they are in the temple of the monastery. People who come to her ask for happiness, well-being in the family, health and good luck in business. Because even during her lifetime there were legends about Matrona: whatever you ask of her, she will fulfill everything. According to rumors, especially the seer helps the lovers. Today we decided to tell you what this saint is famous for.
The queue for happiness
Many people compare her with Vanga. They were born into poor peasant families. Both had strange moles on their bodies: Vanga - in the center of the forehead, in the place of the "third eye", and on the left temple, and Matrona - in the middle of the chest in the shape of a cross. Both were blind: Matrona - from birth, Vanga - at 11 years old, after a tornado lifted her and hit the ground. Both had problems with their legs: they were taken away from Matrona at the age of 17, and Vanga's toes were fused. They showed phenomenal abilities already in childhood: they healed, saw the past, predicted the future. They lived practically at the same time: they "captured" the revolution, the Great Patriotic War, the construction of socialism. They were virgins. Both were recognized as saints by the church. They differ only in one thing: no one comes to Vanga's grave today, if only rare tourists wander,and huge queues line up to the relics of Matrona every day.
Rather, two. The first - to the icon - I defended for five hours. As expected, she kissed the sacred image with her lips, stood, mentally asking for the fulfillment of secret desires, and slipped a pre-written note with the same request under the frame. The second stage - to the relics - to my great surprise, although it was not inferior to the previous one in length, it moved very quickly. The secret turned out to be simple: a guard stood by the relics, who politely but persistently urged visitors on, I barely had time to kiss the glass of the crayfish.
- Matrona takes away all troubles? - I'm interested in Father Alexander.
- If miracles did not happen, then people would not go to her, - answered the priest. - Go to the site dedicated to Matrona (matrona.ru), you will see how many thanks there are to her address. They talk as if they were alive. She is bothered even over trifles: she is asked to get rid of a wart, to repair a crack in the ceiling, to fix a pump and even give birth to a cat. And I dare to assure you - this is confirmed by my conversations with parishioners - she helps everyone.
According to the press service of the Moscow Patriarchate, the flow of those suffering to touch the relics is increasing every year. If about five years ago the monastery was visited by about a thousand or two people every day, today it is already more than six thousand. And not only the sick and infirm, but also young, healthy people come to worship her.

Seven-year-old "bride"
Matrona Dmitrievna Nikonova was born in 1881 in the village of Sebino, Tula province. Before giving birth, the mother had a strange dream: the still unborn daughter in the form of a white bird with a human face and closed eyes sat on her hand. The girl was born blind. At her baptism, when the father immersed the baby in the baptismal font, a pillar of light shot up over the baby, from which there was a fragrance. The amazed priest admitted that he was seeing this for the first time, and suggested that the girl could become a saint.
At the age of seven, Matrona stunned her mother with a statement: "Get ready, I have a wedding soon." “It’s not otherwise my daughter was moved by her mind,” she was upset. But the next day she was even more surprised. Carriages began to drive up to their house one after another, and the people sitting in them asked: "Isn't there a perspicacious girl living here who heals diseases?" “This is for me,” Matronushka shouted to her parents. "I said there was going to be a wedding." "I see," thought the mother, "a wedding with all the sick." Since then, sick people were brought to their house, whom the girl healed with prayers and with one touch of her hand.
In 1925 she had to leave for Moscow because her brothers were communists and did not believe in her "tricks." In the capital she wandered around the corners and basements, hiding from the police, who disliked her for the lack of registration and for the fact that she was always crowded with people. Once she even had to spend the winter in a wooden crevice warmer. Once a friend came to her and saw that Matrona was lying on the trestle bed facing the wall and could not turn - her hair was frozen to the plywood. Only towards the end of her life she found refuge on the Old Arbat with a fellow villager who became a Muscovite, Zinaida Zhdanova, who became her main "chronicler."
I'm afraid of death
She predicted her death in three days to the nearest minute. She said to the visitors: “Come to my grave. As I have received, I will continue to receive, help and pray for you. Whatever I say to your soul, do it. " Priest Demetrius, who appeared for confession and communion, they say, was surprised at her excitement: "Are you really afraid of death?" “I'm afraid,” she admitted.
The eldress was buried on May 2, 1952 at the Danilovskoye cemetery. On May 2, 1997, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II, her remains were transferred to the Intercession Convent, and a year later, on May 2, 1998, she was canonized.
More than a hundred years before her canonization, Saint John of Kronstadt predicted the nationwide glory of the blind girl. At the end of the service at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Kronstadt, he called her to him and said: "Here comes my shift - another pillar of Russia."

A fellow villager of Matrona Zinaida Karpina, who knew the clairvoyant during her lifetime:
- At the age of 18, they began to marry me for a person whom I saw only from a photo and who I liked. My mother wrote to me: "Daughter, if only Matrona blesses, only then get married." And I went to her house, doubting on the way: "The old woman does not understand anything in love." And she immediately, as I entered, said: "This is not your fiance, he does all sorts of bad things, and you will marry another good man in three months." And so it happened. And my first groom was put in jail.
