According to the numerous tales of this mental illness collected on Reddit, the onset of schizophrenia feels like a nightmare. Various voices, hallucinations, paranoia are just some of the symptoms of this terrible disease. The above phenomena can be aggravated if the external situation and the environment of the sick person contributes to this. In addition, it is very important to consider the person's stress level. The larger it is, the more pronounced the symptoms will be, and the lower it is, the lower it will be, or will be at a certain level.

Unfortunately, at this stage there is no treatment that can completely cure a person. He must be observed by doctors throughout his life. Fortunately, some Reddit users who are sick with this condition have found the strength to share it. When a person is sick with schizophrenia, but he receives the necessary treatment, he can live a completely normal life: communicate with friends, family, go to school, and so on. So let's get down to the main part of our article, where people share what they felt at the beginning of such a terrible disease as schizophrenia.

You will not know that you are crazy until the psychiatrist tells you this

“My first ghosts that something strange was happening to me were voices. When I walked down the street, walked in the park, or even just sat on my bed, I began to hear that it was as if someone was calling me, but every time I turned around and looked around, there was no one around who could to call me. Then hallucinations appeared. I saw large swarms of black flies and beetles that literally flooded my home. In fact, this is the pure truth that many people say, "You don't know you're crazy until the psychiatrist tells you so." At the moment I am being treated and already see improvements. My therapist helps me a lot, and I hope that I will soon be able to live the life that I had before my illness,”a user under the nickname Destino23 shared his story.

"My" family "is always with me"

“I started talking to imaginary people. These conversations were very frequent, and they brought me pleasure. Yes, just pleasure. It seemed that you are not alone, you have your own "family", if you can call it that. The people I spoke to were very, very real to me. These were not only someone's voices and an imaginary semblance of some kind of physical form, they were "real" people for me, and each of them had their own stories: life, love, family and so on. They appeared when I was motionless: lying, standing, sitting, and so on. It was enough for me to just move my arm or leg, as they stopped their conversations and fell silent. If, for example, I am in a public place, then I had to answer their question out loud so that they would all be silent all at once.

Yes, this behavior attracted the attention of people, and it was uncomfortable for me to be in society. It was at that moment that I realized that I was not like the others. The hardest part of hallucination is when it disappears. At some point, I can't figure out how my own mind made it all so realistic. What is reality anyway? Why do you consider yourself more real than the person I spoke to? At the moment I can hear all of them and talk to them. They are as real to me as you and as I am. Yes, I am undergoing therapy, and they tell me a lot, and most importantly, I understood a lot. But today I still cannot say goodbye to them, even though I am not like everyone else. I fell to the ground in tears as I looked up at the sky that was burning

“I was diagnosed with schizophrenia six years ago, but the symptoms of the disease appeared long before that. For me, it all started with panic attacks. It was a terrible time, because this state of mine could last for a very long time (from two days to a week). I felt incredible tension always and everywhere. I WAS VERY ILL. I might not be aware of what is happening now, where I am, and so on. I was constantly scared and anxious. But, like everything in this world, my condition passed for a short time, but before that there was just an explosion. I could start screaming, running around the house, collecting things, talking incoherently, twitching, and much more. The first time I realized that it was quite possible I could be suffering from schizophrenia was with my friends. It seemed to me that they were plotting something bad against me, and I decided to run away from them. Hiding in a nearby forest, I fell to the ground and began to cry. When I rubbed my eyes and looked at the sky, it was glowing. A couple of hours later, I was already in a psychiatric hospital."
