An archaeological mystery is located forty kilometers from Taraz. The majestic structure has been standing for hundreds of years, but it is not clear who built it and for what purpose. Locals say from time to time that they saw flying saucers over the hill fort. In order to confirm or deny the unearthly trace in the history of the Akyrtas settlement, even ufologists undertook research. But they could not find answers either.

Akyrtas is a palace complex in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan, near the city of Taraz. It is believed to have been built in the 8th-9th centuries. This complex is an archaeological mystery. The history of the study of Akyrtas began in 1861, but there is still no consensus on the question of who built it and when exactly. Among the various theories of the appointment of Akyrtas is a Buddhist monastery or an Arab palace. It was first mentioned in a 13th century source - in the diary of the Taoist monk Chang Chun, who set off from China to Samarkand in 1222. Here is what he wrote: “On the road we came across a stone settlement: stones of a completely red color; there are traces of an ancient military camp. In the west, there are large burial mounds, located like stars in the Bear."

It is curious that local journalist Amantai Aizakhmetov believes that Akyrtas is the Chigil settlement founded by Alexander the Great. That is, Akyrtas was built before our era. Interestingly, the photographs and videos show traces of primitive manual construction and mysterious huge blocks and stones, as if processed with powerful tools.

The most interesting thing is that the height of the foundation of this structure is 4 meters. Here is what Taken Moldakynov, the director of the complex, says about him: “These huge stone blocks, three and a half to four meters high, were set taking into account the relief of the earth and fastened with a special mortar. The ancient builders installed a plumbing system that supplied water from a mountain spring to the palace's reservoirs. The structure itself, of course, is grand - it is a set of rooms connected by stone passages, which somewhat resembles the mysterious labyrinths of the Egyptian pyramids. And he also said that over the years the stones of Akyrtas were stolen for their needs by the local population. So one can only imagine how this complex looked many years ago.
