In the old days, on the site of the main building of the agricultural academy, there was the house of Elisey Leontyevich Chagin. He was a wealthy hereditary nobleman in a respectable rank - an adviser to the criminal chamber.

But the story did not end there either. During the great fire of 1842, strange things happened to the house. In the dormer, the townspeople saw an old woman waving a handkerchief at the fire. The flames circled strangely around the mansion without approaching it. Permians recognized in an elderly lady - kikimora, with whom the owner was friends during his lifetime.
Soon the mansion fell into disrepair and gradually collapsed. And in its place was built a luxurious castle - the Mariinsky women's gymnasium.
In Soviet times, the building of the gymnasium housed the agronomic faculty of Perm University, which later became an agricultural institute, and since 1995 - the Perm State Agricultural Academy.
