This anomalous zone is located on the border of the Volgograd and Saratov regions, not far from the Medveditskaya ridge. Local residents have noticed for a long time that strange, sometimes incomprehensible phenomena are taking place in this area, and try to bypass the Devil's Lair.

On November 11, 1990, the shepherd Bisen Mamaev, together with an assistant, was driving sheep. At some point, the shepherd was exhausted and decided to stop. Since Bisen did not know the area well, he had no idea that he had chosen an anomalous zone for rest, popularly called the Devil's Lair.

The record of the case stated: “The shepherd's assistant walked away for a short time, after which he found the completely burnt body of the shepherd Mamaev, which lay defenselessly on the ground without signs of resistance to the fire. Due to the sharp charring of the body, it can be concluded that death was instantaneous."

The investigators failed to establish the cause of the fire. One got the impression that a fire broke out inside the person. This is evidenced by the burns of internal organs, and the fact that underwear suffered from fire more than outerwear. In addition, the heap of hay on which the shepherd was sitting turned out to be completely intact.

Later, on the field near the Devil's Lair, for some unknown reason, a combine with a tractor driver burned down.

Devil's lair was investigated by experts from the Cosmopoisk association under the leadership of V. Chernobrov. One night they themselves witnessed the lights running across the field. And in the morning the newspaper Izvestia for 1938 was found in that place. It was in such good condition that it seemed as if it had only been printed yesterday. Experts later examined the paper and ink and concluded that the newspaper was indeed published in 1938.

Local residents try not to plow the field in the anomaly zone. Not a single tractor driver has yet been able to make straight furrows on it. No matter how hard they tried, they got zigzags all the time. And those who lingered in that field until dark, then for a very long time could not find their way home.

Sometimes people in the area disappear forever. So, in 1993, an amateur ufologist from the Krasnodar Territory Nikolai X arrived to study the anomalous zone. He left to examine the zone and never returned. At the site of his alleged location, only a large dent was found.

In 2004, a tourist from Bashkortostan disappeared without a trace here. And those who got lost in the anomalous zone, whom we managed to find, behaved inadequately. They did not want to return home, did not remember exactly how they got to the area of the Devil's Lair, and their reaction was very slow.

Near the Devil's Lair is the so-called Drunk Grove. Only ugly, crooked trees grow in it, many of them are intertwined with each other or spread along the ground. On the trunks of birches, traces of lightning strikes are visible, and in some of them, holes made by ball lightning are clearly visible.

V. Kravtsov from the group of the Kosmopoisk association believes that trees bend in such a strange way under the influence of magnetic radiation. In his opinion, the fault is the iron ore deposits located close to the surface, which attract lightning.

People, once in the Drunken Grove, immediately begin to experience discomfort. Many of them have a headache, a sore throat, and "goose bumps" appear on their bodies.

Studies have shown that the background radiation in the grove is 3 times higher than the norm. In addition, radioactive water flows here even from the spring.

Local legends tell that somewhere in the middle of the Drunken Grove there is a passage to a parallel world. It seems that earlier in the German village, which is located on the slope of the Medveditskaya ridge, there lived a witch who knew where these gates are located, and even used them.

Another legend is told here: “Once a little German girl from the village got lost in the forest. They could not find her, and then she appeared herself. But not the same as before: now she understood the language of birds and animals and talked to them, knew how to heal. The villagers avoided her, and peers called names and laughed at her. One day a large white bird with the head of a beautiful girl appeared. While everyone was standing with their mouths open, the bird-maiden beckoned the girl to follow her - to a better life. They were never seen again."
